Teething is the process of growth and tooth eruption through the gums.

The teething process begins when the baby is 6-8 months old. All 20 primary teeth should be in place by the time the child is 30 months old.

Signs and symptoms

Irritability Biting or chewing hard objects. Dribble Swollen and tender gums. Refusing food. Trouble sleeping.

HOW TO RELIEVE DISCONFORT?


Teethers Give soft plastic objects with water, previously cooled in the refrigerator. cold food Offering cold liquids or gelatin.

Massage gums Gently rub the gums with your finger or wet gauze to reduce inflammation in the area.

Topical products for gums There are products formulated to soothe sore gums Place on topical solutions gum liquid or gel that does not contain alcohol or sugar.

What not to do: DO NOT place anything frozen against your child's gums. NEVER cut the gums to help a tooth out, because this can lead to the infection present. Avoid teething powders. NEVER give your child aspirin or put acid into the gums or teeth. NO rub alcohol on the baby's gums.
