Swami Vivekananda was born on 12 January 1863.

He was the chief disciple of the 19th century saint Ramakrishna. He was the founder of the Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission. He introduced Hinduism at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago in 1893. He established the Vedanta societies in America and England. His birthday is celebrated as National Youth Day. Vivekananda died at ten minutes past nine p.m. on 4 July 1902.
