Research Consultations Wayne State University students, faculty, and staff may schedule individual research consultations with reference librarians in their subject areas to focus on their particular needs. Consultation appointments should be scheduled in advance by contacting the Subject Specialists/Faculty Liaisons (http://www.lib.wayne.edu/info/staff/liaison.php) in the desired disciplines.

You can use "My Library" to:  Renew your books  View your patron record (fines, items checked out, on hold, overdue, etc.)

The Student Technology Studio provides technology, equipment and software for individuals or small groups of students to use in creating multimedia projects, assignments or other course-related activities. Individual assistance is available. Located on the second floor of the UGL.

An online tool that produces a customized time management calendar to help you manage and locate resources for any assignment that requires research and writing.

LOOKING FOR AN ARTICLE?  Use Article Databases when searching for articles on a topic.  General & Multidisciplinary databases: Academic OneFile, ProQuest Research Library, Wilson Select  Over 500 databases available for specialized subject areas LOOKING FOR A SPECIFIC JOURNAL OR ARTICLE?  Use the Online Journals list only when you are looking for a particular title (popular or scholarly) to see if it is available online.  Use Citation Linker to help locate a specific article.  If looking for articles on a topic, use a database instead.  The library catalog lists all periodicals— print and online; search by title.

LOOKING FOR BOOKS??  Use the library catalog to find books, e-books, videos, DVDs, government documents, and other items from the libraries.  Use a database, not the catalog, for finding articles.  Check location and status to identify library and if item is on shelf.  Books can be renewed online using My Library Account.

RECOMMENDED RESOURCES  Guides: a collection of recommended electronic and print resources for research in a subject area  Over 100 guides in subjects from Art to Women’s Studies, compiled by WSU Librarians
