Tips for safe trick-or-treating

Costume Safety
Children should:

Use face paint instead of wearing masks. Wear clothing that is bright, reflective and flame-retardant. Wear well-fitting clothing and shoes—nothing too baggy or big.

Costume Safety

Parents should go trick-or -treating with their children. Children should look both ways before crossing the street and cross at crosswalks. Children should carry flashlights and stay on sidewalks.

General Child Safety

Children should never go inside homes or near dark houses. Children should not talk to strangers or get into any stranger’s car. Names and addresses should be attached to costumes. Parents should examine treats before children eat them.
