The tabs that I used to make my magazine included a background tab, title and photograph tab. These ensured that I can put the right objects in the right section, so nothing gets messed up in the creating process. Secondly, I put my background into the canvas, by clicking on the background tab and pasting.
I then took my desired front cover image, and got rid of my background temporally so that I could focus on cropping the background out of the image. I did this by clicking on the eye icon next to the background tab. After doing this, using the rubber tool, decreasing its size for the smaller areas, I used the blurring tool to soften the edges, so it doesn’t look so harsh, when I placed it back onto the background. I put the image back onto the background by clicking the eye icon again. This enabled me to see my main image on its background, and also to make any edge softening adjustments if I need to.
Next, I took my desired font from a website called ‘Dafont’ and pasted it into Photoshop. I clicked the eye icon on the background and the photo image, so that nothing is in the way when I cropped the white background from the title. To do this, I went to the tool bar on the left hand side, and used the magnetic cropping tool. This enabled me to get right to the edge of the lettering, and cut out the sections of white that was in-between the lettering. After doing so, I unclicked the eyes to reveal the background and main image.
Following this, I added a black box and using the settings on the side, I edited the opacity so that the colour of my background burns through the box. I did this to create a less harsh look. Following this, I created a text box by using the ‘T’ tool on the left hand side. I then wrote my caption, and dragged it on top of the black box. This way my text stood out without looking to harsh among the other features on my front cover.
I repeated this step for the other captions, then I added a star shape using the toolbar. After creating the shape, I coloured it using a pink fill colour. I chose this colour because it stands out well and draws the readers attention to the offer. Again, I used the text tool to create the caption. After this, I made another box below, and created a made up webpage for my magazine.
