Soldiers deploy in support of Global War on Terrorism

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS – Approximately 80 soldiers from the 25th Infantry Division

(Light) and U.S. Army, Hawaii, will deploy this week in support of the Global War on


“I’m fantastically proud of these outstanding soldiers,” said Maj. Gen. Eric T.

Olson, commanding general, 25th Infantry Division (Light) and U.S. Army, Hawaii.

“I have absolute confidence that they will serve our nation with our traditional

Tropic Lightning pride and commitment to excellence. Their nation needs them and

they are answering the call just like so many of our division before them.”

Olson hosted a ceremony this afternoon for the deploying soldiers. Among the

soldiers are commissioned officers, warrant officers, non-commissioned officers and

enlisted soldiers deploying to the Central Command Area of Responsibility.

The deploying soldiers serve in 13 units and 12 military occupational specialties.

Their specialties include infantry, aviation, artillery, logistics and military intelligence.
