Department of Defense Recommends No Changes for Schofield Barracks Under

BRAC 2005

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS –The Department of Defense announced its 2005 Base Realignment
and Closure (BRAC) recommendations today, with no changes proposed for the 25th Infantry
Division (Light) and U.S. Army, Hawaii.
The BRAC process is an important step for the Army as it continues its way ahead, pursuing the
most comprehensive transformation of its forces since World War II.
U.S. Army, Hawaii installations play an important role in the way ahead, serving as a platform for
the Army as the 25th ID (L) and U.S. Army, Hawaii transform. These changes will maximize the
Army’s capabilities in the Pacific Region.
The 25 ID (L) and U.S. Army, Hawaii recognizes the importance of the local community and will
continue build the on the trust and outstanding relationship developed over the years, as it proceeds
with transformation.
The Secretary of Defense’s BRAC recommendations are not final. They must be approved by the
BRAC Commission, the president and Congress before they can be implemented.
