WASTEWATER SPILL AT TRIPLER

TRIPLER ARMY MEDICAL CENTER, Hawaii – The Army’s Directorate of
Public Works (DPW) reported an accidental wastewater spill at Tripler Army Medical
Center in an open field near the Visitor’s Center, along Jarrett White Road, at 1:45
p.m. Wednesday.

DPW personnel responded immediately to the incident, and the spill was stopped
between 6:30 and 8 p.m. that night. Approximately 1,000 to 2,000 gallons of
wastewater were discharged.

There is no danger to the public, and there was no wastewater release into the storm
drain system.

Follow-up repairs were completed Thursday evening.

Pipe damage from tree roots and a collapsed pipe were the cause of the spill.
