I cannot believe that October is already here! Fall is definitely my favorite time of year. We had a great week, learning, playing, and just being with each other. Here is what went on this week:

Theme
We continued in our discussions and research on the biomes and landforms of Africa. We looked at the Nile River and the vast deserts. We found these features on the map.

Narica went to the water park Jadan Alex visited the fire station Carter got a fish toy

Reminders and FYI...

There is LOTS of information in your childs Thursday Folder. Please read everything carefully and return the necessary paperwork as soon as possible:

Shared Reading
We learned about vowels this week. We discussed a,e,i,o,u, their special sounds and the way your mouth moves when you make that sound. We listened for and read words that begin with those letters and those that have that sound in the middle. We were so fascinated to learn that every word has at least one vowel. We also discussed that some vowels are tricky, like a and e, because they sound so similar. We read: Pat the Cat Jen the Hen Mig the Pig Tog the Dog Zug the Bug We even made our own vowel book based off the song, Old MacDonald.

Math
We worked on ways of making ten. What better way than to use yummy teddy grahams! Each child received 10 teddy grahams, some honey and some chocolate. We looked at the different ways each child was still able to have ten even though they had different numbers of each color.
