Company
Sirius XM Radio Inc. is an American broadcasting company that provides satellite radio services operating in the United States. On February 19, 2007, Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio announced a merger that would combine the two radio services and create a single satellite radio network in the United States.

The Idea
Information regarding USA ethnic groups on one side and European radio popularity research results on the other is what refers as main aspects of this document. Bearing in mind our goal to infiltrate radio stations from outside the USA into Sirius XM offer, ethnic groups information should give more clearer insight on demographic structure of USA as a whole and particular states as well. For this purpose, Foreign Born Population in the United States: 2010 1, issued by U.S. Department of Commerce, was used. On the other hand, several, ancestry wise documents could be found on the Internet 2. The reason for choosing information regarding foreign born population as a primarily choice, over ancestry documents, is because it basically provides more accurate or more fresher information about origin ( anyone who is not born a US citizen is considered to be foreign born ). As shown on the graph above, years between 1990s and 2000 show the greatest number of foreign born ( not a U.S citizen ). The foreign born from Europe accounted for 16 % ( 4,9 million ) of the total foreign born population.

Geographic distribution of foreign born. In 2000, 38 percent of foreign born population lived in the West, 28 percent in the South, 23 percent in the North East and only 11 in the Midwest . An information of a greater value is that individuals from Europe were more likely to live in the Northeast and West : 1.882.000 and 1.126.000 respectively. In comparison, South encountered 951 000 and Midwest 915 000.

Conclusion
Why is this important? If there is a possibility for Sirius XM to geo - target particular state with radio stations from Europe included in their package, then named parts of USA should be considered. Furthermore, Montana, Ohio, Connecticut, Vermont and Pennsylvania are the states where foreign born from Europe constituted over a 35 percent of foreign born population. California refers as a strong point as California has the largest population of European Americans of any state. City-wise, eighteen percent of the foreign born from Europe live in New York. Second part of this document, or the idea itself is to learn radio stations popularity in Europe in order to have a clear picture which are worth of suggesting for Sirius XM penetration process .
