What is unique about the students in this class? Make sure that equipment is used properly and students stay on task while using it. Make sure students go around the nets and do not try to jump over them. Attendance: Students will enter the gym and will go directly to their attendance spot. Attendance will be taken and then Students will go into the locker room to change for class.
Transition: Students will go into the locker room to change and then come back into the gym. Warm up: students will start by jogging around the gym for 2 minutes. After this the teacher will lead stretches. While the stretches are going on the teacher will inform the students about the stop and start signals and rules during the lesson. The focus of the day: forehand volley. Transition: Students will walk outside to

the tennis courts and sit down along the fence facing the teacher.

Informing: Forehand Volley. The forehand volley is one of, if not the most used shot in tennis. Therefore it is something essential to learn while learning tennis. Refining: Skill cues for forehand volley Knees bent Face your side to your target Reach racket back, (extend arm behind you) Step with opposition Follow through with racket across your body. Demonstration: teacher will choose student to help demonstrate a forehand volley. The student will throw or hit the ball to the teacher and the teacher will hit a forehand volley back to the student. Transition: Every person in the class will partner up and grab a racket and two tennis balls. Next they will spread out

amongst the courts with there partners on opposite sides of the court.

S 32-42 Activity 1: the students with there partner will stand on opposite sides of the court and work on hitting there forehand to each other by dropping the ball and hitting it to there partner who will catch the ball then do the same back to their partner. Teaching by invitation: as the students improve the teacher will offer that if they feel comfortable they can try to get a rally going and instead of catching the ball and then hitting it, hitting the ball right away back to their partner.

Activity 2: The students will now see how many times in a row they can successfully volley the ball with there forehand. Motivational Objective: which team can get the most volleys in a row?

S Activity 3: Royal Court: The students will now all go to one court where they will play royal court. In royal court there Is a team of two that plays as the royal family on one side which they will keep until another team of two can beat them in a point. The game starts with the royal family drop hitting a ball to the opponent in which they will return and try to beat them in a rally. If the opponent beats the royal family they will get the ball and run to the other side and then hit a drop hit to the next opponents in line waiting to challenge the new royal family.

Transition: Students will walk around and pick up all of the tennis balls and rackets and bring them back to where they got them.

Closure: Teacher will go over the skill cues and the purpose of the skill focused on. When should you use a forehand volley? 74-84 See who can name two skill cues to hitting a forehand volley.

Transition: Students will help bring the equipment inside and then go change and then go back to the gym to wait for

the bell.
