16, 2014* (subject to slight change) Hours: Flexible weekday hours (8-20 hours per week) Job Description: The position of Winter/Spring Special Events Intern with The ALS Association Rocky Mountain Chapter is a temporary, unpaid position for a responsible and compassionate individual who is seeking to gain experience in the nonprofit sector, primarily through event planning, fundraising, volunteer coordination, and office management. The Fall/Winter Special Events Intern will get exposure to and will be heavily involved with the behind-the-scenes management and execution of Sunset, the Association’s semiformal fundraising dinner to be scheduled for some time in early May 2014.

Job Duties: • • • • • • • Coordinate and attend the Sunset Gala Committee meetings; take notes during meeting Solicit for silent and live auction donations Direct outreach to groups and individuals for increased event participation Assemble office mailings; Input simple donations into donor database Promote the event through various outlets; i.e. event calendars, local businesses, facebook, Twitter, etc. Coordinate day of event volunteers Other duties as assigned

Requirements: Applicants should be able to communicate effectively through written and verbal mediums, and know how to use a computer proficiently. Extensive knowledge of social media sites is a bonus. About The ALS Association: The ALS Association Rocky Mountain Chapter is a nonprofit that provides patient care services to people with Lou Gehrig’s Disease, a fatal neuromuscular disease.
