Hey Folks, Welcome and welcome back to new students and returners, hope you had a great summer, had some good times, got some good experience and are ready to start the year. As ever the newsletter is jam packed with events, opportunities and information we hope will make your careers planning easier, if not let us know what else you would like to see here and we will make it happen!

Events:
Both the Maths and Informatics Careers Programmes are well under way- these are open to all students from these department and are a great way of meeting employers and getting support through every stage of the recruitment process- from exploring options to interview techniques. Check the MathSoc facebook page for Maths and KEATS (Informatics Careers) for Informatics FINANCE,CONSULTING AND TECHNOLOGY FAIR: MONDAY AND TUESDAY 7 TH - 8TH OCTOBER This is THE fair to attend for ALL NMS students, with a range of employers from silicon roundabout companies to investment banks there will be something to suit everyone- dont just take my word for it- see the full list of exhibitors so you know who is coming on which days.

CV/Application Fillers:
This is a new section to capture the wide range of things you can engage with to demonstrate to future employers your interest in technology, how you keep your skills up to date, and communication skills to name a few, need I say more....read on and find out how to make your applications stand out! Team Up is looking for KCLs brightest students to join a nationally -recognised leadership development programme alongside their degree. You will complete an accredited qualification, which is run in collaboration with top graduate employers, such as PwC, and consists of rigorous training in five professional competencies, including leadership, management and communication.

These skills will be then developed over a challenging school-based placement, where you will deliver high-quality tuition and enrichment sessions to a small group of young people over the course of 15 weeks, helping them to reach their academic potential. IEEEXtreme is a 24-hour online global challenge in which teams of IEEE Student members, supported by an IEEE Student Branch, advised and proctored by an IEEE member, compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of programming problems. Registration closes on 10th October and the event takes place on 26th. Internships
All the usual suspects are taking applications for the major internships at Tech companies and Investment banks across the land, so instead of flagging those up which you can access via any of our sector guides in the Careers Library. Heres one you may not have found: Analyst Intern This is a great opportunity for a numerate and computer literate graduate to get their foot in the door of one of Londons fastest growing startups. Our Analyst team use their skills and experience to provide the digital insight that our clients value so much. As an Analyst Intern youll be working on real client projects from day one, learning how to best use and interpret our bespoke digital analytics tools. What Youll Be Doing Keeping on top of the latest developments in our fast-moving industry, and filtering and collating that news for the rest of the Analyst team. Conducting research on client websites and carrying out technical tests to identify potential problems. Monitoring our own data gathering and analysis tools and ensuring they are functioning correctly. Participating in meetings, helping to build client reports, and getting involved in every aspect of our Analytics business. What We Are Looking For Either currently studying or recently graduated in a discipline requiring a strong quantitative element. Enthusiasm for the online sector and for working with brand new technology. Strong computer skills, experience with Excel and PowerPoint. Some knowledge of Python, SQL, R is very useful, the capacity to learn one of these languages is essential.
