Has gone through the National School of Government’s induction programme to be thoroughly oriented to the public sector, the specific department in which they work and their job responsibilities Has gone through a training course relevant to their duties, has a career-path programme and has learnt the history of the country and its constitutional values Does not wear running shoes or shorts, but adheres to the formal dress code and practises telephone etiquette In a transparent manner, delivers services to the public fairly, equitably, impartially and without bias Can provide the public with timely, accessible and accurate information Knows the Public Service Charter by heart Holds a high standard of professional ethics Has developed critical, analytical and problemsolving skills to be able to respond to the needs and demands of the public service Knows how to handle finances, human resources, disciplinary hearings and the tender process (in relation to managers) By 2016, will be one of the state’s 1.6 million employees who have a certificate from the school, which will be required in order to be promoted
