SUBJECT: MILITARY TRAINING SERVICE SUPPORT PROGRAM AT FORT LEE,


VIRGINIA CHANGE NUMBER THREE

1. THIS MESSAGE ANNOUNCES ONE CHANGE TO THE MTSS PROGRAM AT FORT


LEE, VIRGINIA. REQUEST WIDEST DISSEMINATION OF THIS MESSAGE TO
FUNDING, TRAINING, AND PERSONNEL MANAGERS. FUND CONTROL OFFICERS
NEED TO BE AWARE THAT ADDITIONAL FUNDS MAY NEED TO BE OBLIGATED
BECAUSE OF PROGRAM CHANGE.

2. FORT LEE HAS REDUCED THEIR ON-POST ARMY LODGING ASSETS TO


SUPPORT INSTITUTIONAL TRAINING TEMPORARY DUTY/ACTIVE DUTY FOR
TRAINING MISSION REQUIREMENTS DUE TO A SHORTAGE OF ADVANCED
INDIVIDUAL TRAINING (AIT) AND PERMANENT PARTY BARRACKS. SOLDIERS
ATTENDING INSTITUTIONAL TRAINING IN A TDY/ADT STATUS WILL
PROBABLY BE HOUSED IN OFF-POST GOVERNMENT CONTRACTED HOTELS. ALL
OFF-POST LODGING SUCCESS PROGRAM (LSP) HOTELS SERVING THE FORT
LEE AREA ARE WITHIN A TRAVEL RADIUS OF THREE TO SEVENTEEN MILES
WITH THE MAJORITY OF ROOM NIGHTS AT HOTELS WITHIN THE THREE TO
TWELVE MILE RADIUS. THE CHANGE IN OFF-POST IN AND AROUND MILEAGE
IS BEING MADE TO ACCOMMODATE THOSE SOLDIERS WHO ARE HOUSED AT
THE FARTHEST END OF THAT SPECTRUM (E.G., TWELVE MILE LSP
HOTELS). SENDING COMMANDS MAY AUTHORIZE AN INCREASE IN THE IN
AND AROUND MILEAGE FOR THOSE THAT POV AND STAY AT OFF POST
HOTELS TO A MAXIMUM OF 24 MILES, PER DAY. THE ORDER ISSUING
OFFICIAL MAY INCREASE THE OFF-POST IN AND AROUND MILEAGE NOT TO
EXCEED 34 MILES, PER DAY IF SOLDIER CAN CONFIRM HOTEL
ACCOMMODATIONS AT THE SLEEP INN OR COUNTRY INN AND SUITES,
RICHMOND, VA. FORT LEE WILL MAKE EVERY ATTEMPT TO LODGE OFF-POST
STUDENTS AT THE NEAREST LSP HOTELS TO REDUCE TRAVEL TIME AND
EXPENDITURES. THE IN AND AROUND MILEAGE FOR ON-POST REMAINS AT 5
MILES, PER DAY.

3. SENDING COMMANDS MAY JUDICIOUSLY AUTHORIZE RENTAL CARS FOR


THOSE THAT MUST FLY. SENDING COMMANDS ARE ASKED TO REPORT
QUARTERLY THE NUMBER OF RENTAL CAR AUTHORIZATIONS, NUMBER OF
DAYS, AND PROJECTED COST TO HQDA (DAMO-TRI). INFORMATION CAN BE
TRANSMITTED BY E-MAIL TO POINT OF CONTACT LISTED IN PARAGRAPH
SIX BELOW.

4. ALL OTHER TRAINING TRAVEL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES REMAIN IN


EFFECT.
