ARMY SALUTES V CORPS ‘IRON SOLDIERS’ FOR


MAINTENANCE, SUPPLY EXCELLENCE
HEIDELBERG, Germany -- "Iron Soldiers" from V Corps' 1st Armored Division

garnered four of the nine awards given to Europe-based units in the Army's Fiscal

Year 2007 Combined Logistics Excellence Awards Program.

The combined program recognizes logistics excellence in three Army chief of staff

initiatives -- the Army Award for Maintenance Excellence, the Supply Excellence

Award, and the Deployment Excellence Award.

In the AAME competition, the division's Company C, 501st Military Intelligence

Battalion, based in Wackernheim, Germany was named winner in the Active Army

Table of Organization and Equipment (small) category.

SEA honors went to the division's A Company, 123rd Main Support Battalion from

Dexheim, Germany, the winner in the Level I Unit category; Wiesbaden, Germany's

141st Signal Battalion, winner in the Level III Parent Level category, and

Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 501st MI Battalion, runner-up in the Level

II (A) Property Book Mobilization Table of Organization and Equipment category.


Several other Europe-based organizations were named as winners in the Army-level

competition as well. The 7th Army Reserve Command, based in Schwetzingen,

Germany, earned SEA honors as the winner in the Level II (B) Property Book Table

of Distribution and Allowances category; The Theater Logistics Center-Europe in

Kaiserslautern, Germany was the winner in the AAME Table of Distribution and

Allowances Large category; the 95th Military Police Battalion in Mannheim, Germany

earned an honorable mention in the Level II (A) Property Book Mobilization Table of

Organization and Equipment category; the Army Reserve's Southern European Task

Force (Augmentation) Unit in Tombolo, Italy was runner-up in the SEA Level I Unit

category, and the 838th Transportation Battalion, a Surface Deployment and

Distribution Command unit in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, was runner-up in the DEA

Supporting Unit category.

The awards, announced by the Department of the Army April 22, will be presented in

a ceremony sponsored by Army Chief of Staff Gen. George W. Casey Jr. in

Alexandria, Va. June 5.
