DESCRIPTION OF THE LEARNER: The learner is either a male or female above 18 years of age consulting in the emergency room due to pain, respiratory diseases, or scheduled operational procedures, requiring deep breathing and or or coughing exercises. He or she is able to speak, read, and understand tagalog and english, and is of any educational attainment. The patient is willing to learn about deep breathing and coughing exercises. LEARNING NEED: Deep breathing and coughing exercises. LEARNING DIAGNOSIS: Knowledge deficit: deep breathing and coughing exercises related to lack of exposure. GOAL: The patient will be able to demonstrate correct deep breathing and coughing exercises. BLOS At the end of 15 minutes of health teaching, the client will be able to: 1. Identify correctly the importance of deep breathing and coughing exercises. 2. Identify correctly how often and when to stop doing deep breathing and coughing exercises. 3. Demonstrate correctly how to do deep breathing and coughing exercises. 4. Enumerate correctly all of the other ways he or she can do to improve his or her breathing.
