Honorable Edmund G. Brown Governor, State of California State Capitol, 1st Floor Sacramento, CA 95814 Dear Governor Brown: In 2015, Boeing’s C17 production in Long Beach will end, taking with it 5,000 jobs. The vote earlier this week by Boeing machinists to reject the plan to build the new 777X in Washington State presents a rare window of opportunity for California to put our economic development incentives to work and keep Boeing jobs in Long Beach. We have the basic infrastructure in place, as well as a highly-trained workforce, ready to take on the challenge. I strongly urge you, along with your Office of Business and Economic Development to work quickly to promote Long Beach as the ideal site for 777X production. This year, California took extraordinary steps to revitalize our economic development programs to incentivize manufacturing and middle-class jobs. Under your leadership, we now have a multi-faceted program in place to not just retain business in our communities, but to recruit companies large and small to build a stronger, more sustainable future. Please know that I am happy and ready to work in partnership with you to create opportunities for Boeing in Long Beach. These are jobs that will drive economic growth in my community and region-wide. With an aggressive package of tax credits and hiring incentives, we can launch a new era of Boeing in California. I can think of no better use for the tools we put in place with the California Economic Development Initiative. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (562) 495-2915. Sincerely,

BONNIE LOWENTHAL Assemblymember, 70th District
