It is my belief that all students have a natural desire to learn and to please.

Teachers are learning facilitators helping their students become engaged and find joy in learning new things. Only when students lose interest do behavior issues arise. My goal is to provide the most engaging class possible and to deal effectively with negative behavior so as to encourage student character growth, social learning, and problem solving.

Classroom 8isruptions #very classroom will have minor disruptions each day. These are very low 7ey issues. #ach student has the right to learn without overwhelming distractions, and a student providing such distractions will be placed in a des7 outside the group perimeter. These students are e9pected to continue following along with the class at this time, and will return to the group when they are ready to demonstrate cooperative classroom behavior. Minor Offenses )tudents are e9pected to ta7e ownership of their mista7es and will spend time with myself to brainstorm options to correct their mista7es. :epeated Offenses I believe that classroom rules should be few and well/thought through and that solid relationships with my students are the most important in motivating their positive behavior. This year we will be forming these relationships while learning and discovering together. <owever, there will be moments when disciplinary actions must be ta7en in order to maintain a safe and learning conducive environment for each student. It is not ideal for other students to regularly be distracted by one student;s continuing negative behavior. )tudents repeating disorderly conduct will meet with me after school dismissal to find a solution to the problem. 5e will construct a behavior contract together, and put forth effort to correct the issue,s-. Major $roblems In major issues such as drugs, weapons, and se9ual offenses, the principal and school discipline committee will be involved immediately. $arents will be notified, and students will be placed on academic probation for a period of time depending on the severity of the offense.
