He was unhappy in his childhood..
“made me very opposite of a “stay-at-home.” He cherished is few good moments.. ”I thank Heaven that a portion of the memories of those happy days still remains with me.”

Father Problems
Alois was harsh and expected much. He was in the civil ranks service for the majority of his lifetime. He expected obedience in all areas of his life. Alois Jr. became so fed up that he ran away and never saw his father again, Hitler was in the same agony with his father. It was also said that Adolf Hitler was beaten by his father often.

Hitler applied to Vienna Academy of Art in hopes of pursuing a art career, he was very passionate about it (“Adolf Hitler art”).

Although Hitler aspired to be these things, his father disagreed: “But since my father, for understandable reasons, proved unable to appreciate the oratorical talents of his pugnacious boy, or to draw from them any favorable conclusions regarding the future of his offspring..”

Hitler decided to do poorly in school to gain attention from his father.

He later dropped out at the age of sixteen due to lung issues and very poor grades in school. (Hitler‟s rise to Power)

• Hitler‟s mother passed painfully after being treated by Jew.
• Became poor and lived in Vienna with Jewish Philanthropists.

While in Vienna..
Hitler moved in with friend, August Kubizek. Kubizek described Hitler as: • “Living a lazy lifestyle” • “Night owl that slept until noon” • “..stay up late discussing his ideas on everything from social reform to city planning” • He never made effort to obtain a job, and “considered himself above that” • “He dressed like an artist and at night dressed like a young gentleman of leisure and often attended the opera” (“Rise of Hitler: Hitler is homeless”)

Kubizek later got accepted into Vienna Academy after Hitler was rejected twice already. Hitler moved out without notice and never spoke to August Kubizek again.

“He adopted a harsh, survivalist mentality, which left little room for consideration of kindness and compassion – an attitude that would stay with him until the end.”

Hitler later moved into a home for poor men for a couple of years. Noted to be “undisciplined and moody..eager to discuss politics”. He began selling his painting to Jewish shop owners. He suffered from depression, with a mixture of “extreme highs”. He was said to have the personality trait “hysterical in nature”.

Vienna events triggered Hitler‟s interest, specifically in Social Democrats, Pan German Nationalists, and Christian social party. He liked the way they “organized large rallies” and “use propaganda and fear as political weapons.” Anti-Semitism (Hatred of Jews) was very “fashionable” in Vienna. Hitler began reading booklets on anti-Semitism to further his knowledge. He still held relationships with fellow Jews; however, he began to notice changes within himself.. (“Rise of Hitler: Hitler is homeless”)

Military Service
• • Hitler left Vienna to escape mandatory military service Hitler moved to Munich, Germany in May of 1913.


He then committed to his military obligations and was apart of World War I
He was awarded several metals and promoted to the rank of Corporal Hitler in World War I (“Never Again Starts Here”)


Hitler was partially blinded in a mustard gas attack near Ypres in Belgium.
At the end of the war he was dumped into civilian life where had neither direction nor career prospects

Anti-Semitism
• “The word anti-Semitism means prejudice against or hatred of Jews” • Hitler‟s years on the battlefield are what shaped Hitler's development of an anti-Semitism ideology. • On September 16, 1919, Hitler “defined the Jews as a race and not a religious community” • At this time his ultimate goal was the removal of the Jews altogether
