YOGA RETREAT

Namaste,
Welcome to Dawn Retreats, it is our pleasure to facilitate a Yoga retreat program for you. Each
of us is seeking balance, fulfillment, love & care in our life; you can achieve all of these, deeper
balance & contentment with regular practice of yoga.
These days, there are too many sources of stress urban living, pollution, traffic, financial,
personal, professional etc. are some of them. We were not meant to be working or living under
stressful circumstances for long periods. Nature has created us painstakingly & we always need
to be in harmony with nature & yoga helps you do it effortlessly.
Stress can be easily managed & yoga increases your ability to cope and control it. Additionally,
there are many other benefits on the mind, body & soul.
The retreat is based on Patanjali style of Yoga. The program will be conducted by a yoga teacher
with over 20 years of teaching experience and has been certified by SVYASA (Swami
Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana), Jigani, Off Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore Rural.

PURPOSE OF THE YOGA RETREAT:
This retreat is for beginners & others who have some knowledge & basic practice of yoga.
To know the scientific principles of yogasanas & its beneficial effect on our body
- To find true happiness, joy, contentment and spiritual fulfillment
- Help in self healing from trauma, grief, prolonged stress etc.
- Reinforces positivity in daily life, have more energy to do things, achieve new goals &
aspirations
- Awareness of body-mind synergy is the very important, yoga is a way of life not merely
an activity or exercise; deeper knowledge & regular practice is key to finding your
connect to it
- We are complex beings and each of us has the greatest & unlimited potential. Regular
practice of Yoga can be instrumental in reaching your life goals & full potential
- We are here to simply provide you the knowledge and give each of you a helping hand to
get started on a better lifestyle.
- To help you discover & develop your own intuitive style of yoga
Note: The sessions will include Theory, Q &A sessions & most importantly the practice of
Yogasanas.
DURATION OF THE RETREAT:
Approximately 2 & days
SUMMARY OF THE PROGRAM:
FRI Arrive at the premise in the evening, check-into your rooms, socialize, yoga krida (games)
& dinner
SAT Rise early for Inauguration with lighting of the lamp by participants! & Yoga class,
followed by theory and practical sessions with breaks.
SUN Theory & practice; conclude with live guitar performance by a maestro, depart by

TARGET GROUP: Adults & teenagers above 15 years old, corporate groups etc. This is for
beginners & for people with some basic knowledge & practice of Yoga.
THEORY CLASSES COVER THE FOLLOWING TOPICS:
- What is Yoga and what is not yoga
- Significance of Yoga in daily life
- Benefits of Yogasanas, Pranayam & Meditation
- Various types of Yoga Hatha, Vinyasa, Patanjali etc.
- Physiology & anatomy of the human body
- Effect on body through Yogasanas Panchakosha, 5 layers of the human body
- Breathing techniques, pranayam and meditation

DAY 1: FRIDAY
5 7.00pm : Reach the premise on Fri evening between 5 -7pm.
Check into your room, meet & socialize with others at the cafeteria.
7.15 8.15 pm : Group to meet at the main hall for Inauguration, followed by self
Introduction & ice-breaker activity & Yoga krida (Yogic games). This
helps in
memory development, enhance creativity etc.
8.30 9.30pm : Dinner (simple vegetarian food)
Note: Working professionals can come in by late Fri evening & if you cant make it on Fri, join
us on Sat early morning. We encourage you to come by Friday evening as it gives you time to
check in, socialize & relax.
DAY 2: SATURDAY
5.30 - 6.25 am: Rise early morning, freshen up (you could also have a shower after the first yoga
session). Ensure you are on empty stomach for the yoga session. Plain/ warm water can be
consumed. Early risers can complete your walk; enjoy the natural beauty & fresh air.
6.30 7.00 am : Simple Inauguration
7.00 8.30 : Practical yoga session
8.40 9.30 : Breakfast at the cafeteria & shower
9.30 10.30 : Theory session on Yoga
10.35 11.00 : Break
11.05 12.30pm : Practical Yoga Session
1.00 2.00 : Lunch
2.00 2.55 : Rest
3 4 pm : Theory session
4 4.25 : Break for Tea
4.30 6 : Practical Yoga Session
6.10 7 : Relax & commune with nature
7.30 8pm : Mini flea market by the participants. Ensure you bring reasonably priced
goods & in modest quantities. Carry plastic sheets etc. for display, bags, chart paper, marker
pens, scissors etc. for making price tags. Art paintings , crafts, traditional jewelry, trinkets etc.

DAY 3: SUNDAY
7.30 8.30 am Practical session, followed by breakfast.
Repetition of the schedule until 4.30pm

4.40 5.40pm : Concluding session, feedback from participants & creative program by the
participants. Followed by live guitar performance by maestro or musician playing other classical
instrument artists like veena or violin .

The fee includes yoga training fee, food, beverages, accommodation for 2 full days & 1 Book.
All other incidental expenses are not included here. Yoga mat will be provided for 2 days use.
Kindly arrange for your own transportation to each the venue. Bus route & other details are
listed below.
Note: The fee has already been discounted by approximately 20% for the benefit of all
participants.

WHAT TO CARRY:
1. Cushion for meditation
2. Empty water bottle Metal or glass bottle, avoid plastic
3. Mobile phone charger & Flashlight (Torch)
4. Mosquito repellant creams/ liquid repellants
5. Track pants/ shorts, T-shirts, warm clothes - sweater, jackets, shawls etc.
6. Notepad & pen for simple notes (but the focus needs to be on practice with guidance)
7. Light dry snacks - biscuits etc in case you are hungry between meals
8. Camera for photography
9. Towels & hand towels, other personal accessories
IMPORTANT NOTE:
You are responsible for all your belongings like electronic gadgets like laptops, cameras
Tablets etc. Please secure them. The Retreat organizing team, staff, and management
team at School of Ancient Wisdom will not be responsible for any loss/ theft of any
personal goods/ accessories.
Adults to ensure the safety & security of children. Ex: visit to the fish pond, secluded
spots, restrooms etc.
The Retreat Organizers and the Management team at the School reserve full rights to ask
any participant(s) to leave the retreat or deny entry because of bad behavior, acts of
aggression etc.
Wheelchair available at the premise. Pls request for it at the main gate security or the
staff inside.

WHAT TO WEAR FOR YOGA SESSIONS:
Loose fitting clothes like track pants, shorts, T-shirts etc & the clothes must not be too loose.

It is recommended that you get adequate sleep & rest when you feel like it
Be punctual for yoga sessions. You could also take a break to relax, if you are not up to it
Silence during the retreat is deeply relaxing & uplifting
Carefully follow the instructions of the yoga teacher & practice the yogasanas etc.
Ask questions & clarify

DONT's:
Do not have heavy meals as you will need 30-45 mins for digestion & yogasanas must not be
performed immediately after heavy meals.
Any alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, other contraband items is NOT permitted during the entire
stay at the premise. We request you to follow the rules, while at the premise.
Do not force yourselves into uncomfortable postures/ positions, as there could be risk of serious
injury like spasm, fracture etc. The process of yoga is to gently build strength & over a period of
time.
Pets are not allowed in this premise.

HOW TO GET THERE:
Postal Address: IVC Road, Kannamangala Palya, Devanahalli Taluk.
Landmarks: As you see the BIAL ramp on the left side, continue on NH-7 (National Highway)
towards Devanahalli, after 1km, you will be on the flyover and can spot a large white building on
the left, which is visible at a distance, this is the CAE (Canadian Aviation & Electronics office),
travel another 1 km to find the CAE & School of Ancient Wisdom signboard at the railway level
crossing on the left side. Take the left turn & travel 1.5km to reach the premise located on the
left side. Report to security & enter the gate to park your car/ bike. Find the retreat organizers
team at the cafeteria.
Distances: Approx 35 kms from MG Road, 23kms from Hebbal Flyover
Bus Route: Take bus to Devanahalli, but you will need to get off much before Devanahalli. Ask
the conductor to inform you when its 1.5kms after the BIAL ramp & you can get off at the bus
stop.

Driving Instructions & Safety:
CAUTION: Due to flyover construction on NH-7 the street lights are not working at the
moment.
There are many spots where construction work is in progress, barricades have been put
up for safety & vehicles are forced to use service roads etc. At night, long stretches do
not have lighting and safe & cautious driving is recommended.
Suggestions: Car pooling is recommended for people staying close to each other. We will
send out an email to all with the carpool requests etc.
What to expect:
The space is peaceful, beautiful and serene, It gives each participant time & space to
reflect, absorb & truly rejuvenate mind, body & soul
Yoga sessions will be conducted professionally & all required assistance will be provided
Great place to socialize, develop new friendships & commune with nature
Also, to meet spiritually inclined people

DISCLAIMER:
The Yoga teacher is well qualified and certified by reputed Yoga Training centre in India.
Always perform / practice yogasanas slowly and safely.
Do not overdo yogasanas, pranayam or meditation. It has a reverse or negative effect on the
body. Practice as advised by a qualified yoga teacher. Ensure you do not expose yourself to any
muscular, orthopedic injury.
Yoga is not a religion. It is not necessary for you to believe in a certain god or to chant certain
hymns. It is spiritual and ancient science, which leads to health in the body, peace in the mind,
happiness in the heart and liberation.
The organizers, support staff or any other member including the management team of School of
Ancient Wisdom will not be liable for any mishap, loss, theft of any personal goods/ accessories
during your stay.
Adults to closely watch & supervise children during their stay at the school. There is sufficient
lighting in most of the areas but ensure you & the children carry flashlights (torches) for use in
poorly lit/ dark areas.
In case of any serious matter or issues of concern, immediately report to the Organizing team or

WHO SHOULD NOT ATTEND & PEOPLE WITH MEDICAL CONDITION:
People with existing medical condition like Cardiac (Heart) issues, serious orthopedic condition
etc.
Pregnant women & those who are in early stage of pregnancy & may not be aware
You should discuss yoga with your doctor before starting if you have medical conditions like
heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetic eye disease (diabetic retinopathy), orthopedic
problems (low back, neck, etc.), or any other medical condition that you think might be
worsened by yoga.
Patients who have been diagnosed with advanced spinal stenosis should avoid extreme extension
of the spine such as back bends in yoga.

Patients with advanced cervical spine condition should avoid doing headstands and shoulder
stands in yoga.

OTHER RETREATS & WORKSHOPS:
Intensive healing retreats for people coping with loss, grief, trauma, excess stress, personal
setbacks etc. Will be assisted by professional grief counselors, healers, therapists, psychologists
etc.
Creative Retreats for children, teens, young adults & adults. These include photography,
paintings, dance workshops, pottery classes etc. Min. group size is 15- 20 people. Location can
be flexible & close to your residence or in the premise of your apartment, gated community etc.
For Corporations - Yoga, pranayam & meditation retreats. Combined with holistic treatments
like ayurvedic massage, aromatherapy, yoga massage etc. We can also include activities like
camping, archery, rope activity etc.
Separate workshop Advanced Yoga. We will develop a customized program to ensure maximum
benefit to the participants.
