Students will need to have some familiarity with fairytales Students know how to make LINCS vocabulary cards Disney versions of Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel. (Other options as well) Plot Graphs Common elements of Fairytales Worksheet Students know how to annotate

Focus and Review

Students will complete KWL charts individually as a warm-up on their background knowledge on fairytales. We will come together as a class to discuss KWL charts and fill out one as a class Today we will begin our unit on Fairytale Autobiographies. To begin, well re -visit some of the fairytales we are already familiar with to determine the common elements that make up these stories. We will also be learning about the elements that every story must have in order to work by charting the progression of the story on a plat graph. As a class we will read the Disney version of Cinderella I will teach the definitions of the following terms PlotExposition- the introduction of the characters and the basic situation Conflict- A struggle between opposing forces that drives the action of the story

Practice

Disney version of Cinderella Students will choose another fairytale to read in their pre-designated pairs and fill out another plot graph Students will also annotate their fairytales looking for details or elements that are similar between the two fairytales We will close by going over the common elements that pairs found between the fairytales they read, briefly discussing any overlap Plot maps will be evaluated for understanding of the elements of a story Students understanding of differences and similarities between texts will be evaluated when I collected annotated fairytales and during closure
