Radiation Safety

Detection and Monitoring Devices

Survey Meter
• Inovision model 451B • Air ionization chamber • Calibrated in R/Hr • Gamma/X-Ray • 20 keV to 2 MeV • Digital and analog readout

Inovision 451B
• With the slide open • X-Ray 7keV - 30MeV • Responds to but is not calibrated for Beta • Detects Beta energy above 100 keV • Alpha above 4 MeV

Inovision 451B cont.
• Over range rate – if over 50 R/h are received the display will blink • Auto alarm – an audible alarm will sound at 1% of full range 0.5 R/h • Integrate mode – exposures are accumulated up to 999R • Freeze mode – will show the peak value received

Another Survey meter
• M15 Neutron counter • Monitors fast and slow neutrons • Sensitivity adjustable from 2 - 60 millivolts • Range 0 – 500,000 counts/minute
