Abstract
In the system for collecting and transport of water, the water tower is the most attractive
structure from structural point of view. In the framework of the project documentation for the
structure of the water tower, its static and seismic stability is proven by the spectral theory on
two calculation models, cantilever and 3D model with discretization with finite elements.
This paper describes the methodology for analysis and the results obtained from the behaviour
of the water tower structure under influence of three real earthquakes. The history of the
behaviour from the effects of the real earthquakes has a purpose to demonstrate the
vulnerability of the structure from different earthquake types and to define the most
vulnerable structural elements where extensive damage might occur.
