After the disastrous food storm in that lm, scientist Flint (Hader) and his friends are forced to leave their town of Swallow Falls. He accepts the invitation from his idol Chester V (Will Forte) to join The Live Corp Company, which has been tasked to clean the island. But when he discovers his old machine still operates and now creates mutant food beasts.
Dont be put off byEnough Saidbeing described as a romantic comedy. Free of mostclichsof its genre, this is more a slow-burning adult drama full of chuckles derived from well-written characters and top-notch acting than the lesser fare weve seen in recent times as rom-coms have run out of steam. It is moreYour Sisters Sisteror (while not a rom-com itself)Blue JasminethanFriends With Benets, thanks to a deft blend of smarts, laughs and a rock-solid emotional core. Anchored by seemingly effortless, understated, and therefore tremendously impressive performances from leads Julia LouisDreyfus (whos perhaps never been a better actress) and the tragically departed James Gandolni,Enough Saidmoves at a measured pace as the pair romantically entangle. Such is the uncommon subtlety and trueto-life honesty with which these two divorced parents begin to fall
for each other that the lm had me wondering whether it was a rom-com at all until, hey presto, along comes a plot contrivance and one character keeping secrets from another that earnEnough Saidits rom-com stripes without stretching credulity any further than it needs to. Aside from the strong chemistry shared by Louis-Dreyfus and Gandolni, propelling their irty banter that delivers most of the lms laughs, strong relationships exist elsewhere, thanks to characters who defy usual commonly-seen clichs of supporting roles. Friends, daughters, partners theyre all developed into characters who deserve their screen time, and you feel for Louis-Dreyfus each time she dents the bonds she shares with them. A class act all round.

ENCORE Metz
PUNK, NOISE, POST-ROCK, grunge and sludge are all terms that have been used to describe Canadian trio METZ. Each genre can be heard in varying degrees through their music, and many a music critic have drawn comparisons between the trio and a handful of early 90s alternative bands such as Melvins, Mudhoney and Pixies. Speaking with drummer Hayden Menzies, he explains that the comparisons are very attering, though points out their sound is just as valid in 2013. Were all in our 30s and those bands were a big inuence on all of us growing up. But with us trying to replicate anything, or us trying to formulate anything from another era - we dont write songs with the intention of sounding like the 90s. We like to think were writing contemporary music thats maybe reminiscent of something, but its still relevant to 2013. The three men of METZ -guitarist and vocalist Alex Edkins, bassist Chris Slorach and drummer Menzies - have been playing live since 2010 after meeting in Toronto, Canada. After solidifying themselves as a reputable live act, METZ began work on a record aimed at capturing the essence of their live show. There was a bit of an accepted challenge in translating what we did live to the record, so we really wanted to take our time to gure out how we could do that in the studio and just have fun with it, and not really feel any pressure or any deadlines, says the drummer. Translating the brutality and precision was a large task, and an unlikely duo in Graham Walsh (from electronic band Holy Fuck) as producer and Alex Bonenfant (whose production credits include Crystal Castles) as mixer, were enlisted to help. Both urged METZ to create something a little different in the mix, Menzies explains. Graham from Holy Fuck came to us when he was getting more and more into recording. And we just saw it as a great opportunity to get even more ideas, ya know, with them coming from more of a different approach musically. We just saw it as an opportunity to explore different stuff and not just put out a conventional rock record. Just one listen of the album will shatter any impressions of a conventional rock record. Its straight up loud and pummels with an
anxious ferocity. The guitars screech in primal anger and the vocals are fuzzed out and smeared across the gnawing, frantic pulse of the drums and bass. Its a bizarre wavelength owing a debt to white, hot chaos. Released in October 2012 through iconic Seattle music label Sub Pop, the album quickly met applause from Pitchfork, and was recently shortlisted for the Canadian Polaris Music Prize. Since the release the trio have been on tour without pause, and when queried over the high energy demands of performing such material every night, Menzies shares that the band are able to push through any barriers through perseverance and sobriety. Its not without its challenges. It can be tough, and we do get tired. But we dont party or anything [and] were all in it for the same reasons, [so] as long as we keep playing as much as we can, then itll keep us going for quite a while. The New Zealand leg of the tour on the 12th and 13th of December will be their rst visit down under and aside from the plane ride over, the trio are very excited. Fans attending the shows could well hear new material, as the powerhouse drummer reveals work on the follow-up album has already begun. Weve already started writing the new record so as soon as we get back from this tour well go into the rehearsal space and shove out our ideas and hopefully have the new record out within the next 8 months or so, states the drummer. Menzies describes the new material as an extension of their debut with new approaches in there, and is condent in their ability to develop and grow as a band. We dont want to write the same stuff over and over. It denitely has our stamp, or whatever you wanna call it, but other than that its just us becoming better song writers.
