1) These lesson plans are very detailed.

Lesson 2 is a more detailed description of how the STAD model is carried out, with an example of a lesson to teach with it. Lesson 1 is just a very detailed lesson that notes objectives, standards, accommodations, and assessments. This lesson also shows an analysis of the how well the model worked to teach the given topic. The weakness of Lesson 1 is that the teacher really did not break down each activity into a specific amount of time. The teacher just said the overall lesson would take fifty minutes. The weakness of Lesson 2 is that is not really a standard lesson plan. It gives examples of what you could teach with the STAD model and outlines how that example lesson would flow using the model. If it were going to be used as an actual lesson plan the content being taught and activities being done would need to be explained in more detail. 2) Lesson 2 is a direct overview of the STAD model. It talks about all the key aspects of STAD, such as mixed ability grouping, improvement points, and cooperative learning activities. Lesson 1 on the other hand, does mention mixed ability grouping and students working together to complete assignments, but it leaves out the major portion of the STAD model, which is the improvement points. The goal is for students to be motivated to help one another because of these points awarded to group for individual improvement. Even without the improvement points, Lesson 1 does give a pretest before the lesson and a test after the lesson, which does measure improvement. 3) As mentioned above, in Lesson 1 the teacher uses cooperative learning activities to teach the lesson, but does not use the improvement points system. Other than that, both lessons pretty much follow the STAD model.

4) I would have made Lesson 2 stronger by making it more detailed. This lesson is more of a description of the model than an actual lesson. I would have increased the motivational aspect of Lesson 1 by incorporating the improvement points into the lesson.
