the Thanksgiving holiday using this site: http://www.scholastic.com/scholastic_thanksgiving/index.htm The groups take the information that was learned via the video and add what they

have found via the site to answer the questions on the list. The information found on this site follows the common core standards that the

Each person in the group will draw a picture on Kid Pix about their own family

Thanksgiving traditions to make every students feel welcome and to give their families story. (students can discuss seating arrangements, games played, food at the table, ect) 4. material and how well they are able to compare the other stories they heard from classmates. Students will be able to learn from other cultural perspectives and traditions celebrated on Thanksgiving. Students will also receive a grade for their Kid Pix drawing (the teacher will look to

see that effort was put into the drawling and various tools were experimented with). Students will write a reflection and post it on their weebly account discussing how

various cultures celebrate Thanksgiving and answer the questions given. The students will have an opportunity to share and explain their kid pix creation, and what their traditions are and what theyve learned from other students traditions. completing any part of this lesson, that student(s) will be accommodated accordingly. The ELL student(s) or student (s) with a disability will also receive help from the teacher, or a peer who finishes early. Students will be working in groups to help each other with the new programs.

2. NCES-S NETS-S 1. Creativity and Innovation

1. A. Students will use Kid Pix to demonstrate the knowledge they have gained.

They will be allowed creative thinking in the creation of their Kid Pix while exploring the possibilities of what Kid Pix can offer in products and process using technology. NETS-S 2. Communication 2.B. Students will post their Kid Pix Video to their teams on the classroom

wordpress bloggins website to allow for interaction, additional suggestions and opinions. 2.C. Students will have an opportunity to comment on the classroom wordpress

page ask any questions and share each others experiences to help learn about cultural sensitivity that may assist them in making their Kid Pix. Students can blog/facebook/twitter what they have discovered.

NETS-S 3. Research and Information Fluency 3.C. Students will evaluate and select informational sources from the web sites

provided and videos to gain knowledge of the history of Thanksgiving. 3.D. Students will analyze and process data and report results on the question

worksheet provided. NETS-S 5. Digital Citizenship 5.B. Students will maintain a positive and professional attitude when utilizing blogs,

facebook, twitter or any other technology supporting this lesson.

3. Assessments Formative Assessments For this lesson we will be using a combination of the following assessments; question and answer, assignments and projects.

Question and Answer assessments will be given at the beginning of the lesson. Students will be asked to share their initial thoughts and experiences of thanksgiving. This form of assessment is more geared towards engaging the students and creating an introduction to the lesson. During this time we can prepare to motivate the students and allows us to gage where the students are when it comes to the topic of Thanksgiving. Project based assessment will be used in this lesson as well. Students will be required to gather their information and present it to the class via a slide show presentation. This will be a great way to assess if each student has comprehended the material and how well each group worked collaboratively to organize the content of the presentation. Students will also be required to create a Kid Pix project. By having the students create an illustration on Kid Pix they will be able to make a text to self-connection and use their creativity. We will be able to tap into every learning style and make this lesson more integral. Assignment assessments will be used during the research portion of this lesson. Since the students will be required to watch a video and complete research using the Internet, a worksheet assignment will be a great way to assess their knowledge of the objectives mentioned. Here is the worksheet that we will be using for this type of assessment -Summative Assessments

Each student will post a reflection on the entire project to his or her personal weebly portfolio.

This portfolio will contain students work for the entire year and will act as an assessment for the teacher.

4. Learning Theories Our lesson will be formulated based on the constructivist learning theory. Students will use the constructivist method to construct a public artifact. This lesson will also highlight components of project-based learning. Students will be required to inquiry as a group about Thanksgiving. Students will present their work to an audience and in this case it would the class. Finally the project "allows some degree of student voice and choice" in this portion of the lesson students will be given the opportunity to work individually to express their learning and will also give students a chance to talk about their heritage.
