In 1791, the Bill of Rights and many other Amendments were added to our United States Constitution to make

our government system better for the people. It gives more power to the people, which is the common misconception that people have with the Amendments. However, one misconception about those amendments is that the Bill of Rights and the Amendments think that that document created a total government controlled country by thinking that the government made to many restrictions by adding the Amendments to the constitution. Though, the Amendments added more rights to the people instead of taking them away. Although Americans added the Bill of Rights and other Amendments to the constitution, the peoples rights did not lessen but more were added by giving us a quicker court system without cruel and unfair treatments of punishment, and it divided our national and state government equally. First, the Bill of Rights and the other Amendments are. In 1787, the first American Constitution was written but not ratified because the people wanted a Bill of Rights that would ensure the peoples individual rights. This consisted of ten amendments added to our constitution to make it better for the government and the people. Also, other amendments were added along with the Bill of Rights to make a total of twenty-seven amendments. These were put into the constitution of dates ranging from 1794-1992 (Remy, 25). The Bill of Rights and other Amendments ensure that American citizens rights are protected. (you can also see the you tube video below about the first ten amendments). One thing that the Amendments did was that they ensured people better court cases or trials. Firstly, there are no unusual or cruel punishments that do not fit the crime. For example,

if a person runs a red light at a traffic stop and normally receive a ticket, without the eighth amendment you could be given mass time in jail or even hanged instead of just a fine like a person would receive today. (Remy, 27) Secondly, the trials are executed much more quickly. Before the Bill of Rights, you may only have stolen a small item and have to wait a long time for a trial. However this is different today because Amendment six states that, everybody has th e right to a fair speedy trial. After these amendments, our courts have been working more effectively and efficiently than ever before (Scardino, 86). America has the best court systems because of the rights Americans have by quickly executed trials and without cruel or unusual punishment. Another thing that the Amendments did to give people more power was by guaranteeing peoples individual rights. When James Madison was writing the Bill of rights his main thoughts going about his head were power to the people and individual rights (Nardo, 14). So when the Bill of Rights was published, the First Amendment clearly stated that everyone has the right to freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of press, and freedom of assembly and petition. This amendment is one of the most crucial for individual rights on American citizens. Some people think right at first when America added amendments to our constitution, that we limited the people more. Amendment one says much differently on how it affected us. It gave us the opportunity to choose any religion that we want and not be persecuted by it, it gave us the freedom to say anything we want unless we are impugning on others rights, and it finally gave us the chance to argue against the government openly and, be with the people we want. The peoples individual rights were more added to the constitution rather than taken away.

In conclusion, the Bill of Rights and other amendments were added to perfect our constitution and make our government system fairer to the people. These amendments dont restrict us anymore than they did with our original constitution and in fact, they give us more power as people than they did before these amendments were ratified. The Bill of Rights ensured more rights to the people as individuals which makes this document one of the most important in improving Americas world image.
