Statement of Rep. Pat Dillon (D-New Haven) re: AT&T’s plan to sell
landline business to Frontier Communications

I have grave concerns about AT&T’s plan to sell its landline business to Frontier
Communications. Although I recognize the realities of today’s business climate, it is
my understanding there are 1200 jobs at stake in New Haven.

So long as there are two Connecticuts – urban and suburban – core cities are at a
disadvantage and will continue to see job flight driven by decisions made by state
policymakers. For example, the state Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA)
approved moving New Haven UI jobs to the suburbs.

I urge PURA to evaluate the economic impact on New Haven as they review AT&T’s
proposal.
