Southeast University (SEU) was established in June 2002 as a private university under the Private University Act 1992. The president of Bangladesh is the chancellor. The goal of the university is to provide excellent modern education for students with a view to equipping them with the skill and knowledge to lead the country in its quest for development. Along with this, the university aims at producing students of high moral standard. SEU has the authority, under its charter, to provide instruction to confer undergraduate and post graduate degrees. It has plans to offer MPhil. and PhD programs in all branches of higher studies including engineering, agriculture, law and medical sciences. It has also the authority to grant diplomas, certificates and other academic distinctions. It has the authority to open new schools of studies and new institutions in its own campus. The university is run by a number of statutory bodies as required under the provisions of the Private University Act, 1992.

The School of Business Studies is the oldest school of Southeast University starting its journey with only one department under its jurisdiction namely, the Department of Business Administration. It started its academic activities since the inception of Southeast University in the month of June 2002. In fact, the School of Business Studies is the prime academic unit where student enrollment began in this university. Business education goes a long way in preparing generations of youths to face the challenges of time and to build up a happy and prosperous nation. The necessity of and the ever-increasing demand for updated specialized education have made our philosophers, social scientists, educationists and entrepreneurs think of doing something positive in this regard. We must ensure that our future generations of students assimilate the advancements in every field of knowledge especially, the business education and are able to utilize it for the betterment of the country.

Facilities
1. Library SEU has an open shelved air-conditioned modern library system enriched with text and reference books as well as journals required by the students and faculties for study and research activities. The central library is spacious enough, computerized and connected with internet. The students and teachers can browse it for latest information and development of knowledge. Books in the library are added on annual basis. SEU is generous enough to allocate a big amount of its budget for procurement of books and journals related to business education. The library system is linked with an international organization named INASP/PERI for browsing and downloading valuable international journal articles. The central library remains open every day except on government holidays. A number of library professionals remain active to serve the readers all the time. The academic departments have their own departmental libraries also. 2. Laboratories SEU has different laboratories enriched with modern facilities for conducting practical classes. These are Computer Laboratory, Digital Laboratory, Pharmacy Laboratory and ICE Laboratory. Besides, the University has common computer laboratories for computer practice and free internet browsing for all students. All the laboratories are spacious and air-conditioned. The students of the School of Business Studies have several courses on computer applications and software. The students of the SBS use computer lab from early morning to late at night. 3. Multimedia and Overhead Projector support In modern education system, use of multimedia and overhead projectors has been very popular and effective in taking classes. Southeast University uses multimedia and overhead projectors in classes to facilitate understanding of the topics. Multimedia projectors are freely available to students for regular class presentations, workshops, seminars etc. 4. Student Counseling System Student counseling is a remarkable feature of Southeast University. The main objective of counseling is to keep the students engaged in studies and co-curricular activities. If any student finds difficulty in studying or in co-curricular activity or in adjustment with other students, he/she is given proper advice and cooperation to overcome his/her problems. The student counselor and the teachers are always friendly with the students. A student of the School of Business Studies can closely interact with BBA and MBA Coordinators. He/she can discuss any matter with them, be it personal or academic. The Dean, SBS, is also available full time to meet with students and parents. Parents are most welcome to consult with the Dean and relevant Program Directors about any problems regarding their ward(s).

5. Accommodation Facility & Heath Care SEU has arrangement of hostel facilities for female students of the University at a reasonably affordable cost. 6. Center for Business Research Center for Business Research (CBR) of Southeast University works on business problems for the benefit of business educators, managers, entrepreneurs of the state, semi-state and private enterprises in Bangladesh. To promote business education in Bangladesh CBR publishes a Journal, Manuals, Brochure, and quality textbooks. It also organizes seminars, roundtable discussions and workshops on contemporary business related issues. It arranges exchange of ideas among the teachers on burning issues of business. It also arranges training for the research workers. Pre-budget and post-budget seminars have been organized by CBR on a regular basis for the last few years. 7. WTO Research Centre On April 18, 2008, the WTO Research Centre (WTORC) was opened in the School of Business Studies. Primary objectives of the centre included sponsoring and initiation of research on trade related issues which are important in Bangladeshi perspective. The centre has been operating with the collaboration of United Nations University of Japan where Prof. Dr. Nobuto Iwata is the head of the WTO Centre there. In opening the Centre, Prof. Iwata visited Southeast University. The centre was formally inaugurated by His Excellency Masayuki Inoe, the Ambassador of Japan in Bangladesh. Resident Representative of JICA, Ms. Nobuto Sujuki also took part in the opening ceremony. The centre provides unique opportunities, and it is the first of its kind in any University of Bangladesh to undertake multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional research in the area of trade and related issues. 8. Co-Curricular Activity Clubs Southeast University gives importance to co-curricular activities of the students. For organizing co-curricular activities the university has different clubs such as, Sports Club, Debating Club, Drama Club, Movie Club, Social Development and Environment Club. These clubs play an important role in the physical and intellectual growth of the students. 9.Medical Support A Medical Officer is working in the Campus No. 02, at House No. 64, Road No. 18, Block No. B, Banani Model Town, Dhaka-1213. The Medical officer remains available in his office from Saturday to Thursday (2.00PM-5.00PM) excepting Government holiday.

Admission
The University has 3 academic sessions/semesters for admission into different programs under the School of Business Studies namely, Spring (January-April), Summer (May-August) and Fall (September-December). Each semester has duration of 4 months. The University publishes an academic calendar for each year. Admission Requirements

BBA Program: A student should have at least Second Division or minimum GPA of 2.5 in both SSC & HSC examinations or a minimum GPA of 2.0 in SSC or in HSC, combined total being not lower than 6.00; or A level (in two subjects) with GPA of 2.0 and O-level (in five subjects) with a GPA of 2.5 or above, in the scale of A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 & E=1 (not more than one E will be accepted). For the children of Freedom Fighters, a minimum GPA of total 5.00 in SSC and HSC examinations (Official Freedom Fighters certificate must be produced). Break of study for more than two years is not allowed. The candidates seeking admission into the above program will have to appear at an admission test and obtain an acceptable score in that test plus a viva-voce. To remove the deficiency of students in English language and other subjects, non-credit remedial courses will be offered. Students taking remedial courses will be required to pay a subsidized tuition fee to be determined from time to time. To get an Application Form by mail one may write to the Office of the Registrar along with a Bank Draft/Pay Order of Tk.500 in favour of 'Southeast University' with a self-addressed envelope bearing postage stamp of Tk. 20. Department of Architecture

The Department of Architecture is the pioneer department that launched the first academic activity of SEU at its own campus in Tejgaon, Dhaka. The Department of Architecture in the School of Science and Engineering aims at a curriculum befitting the contemporary needs providing a student with reasonable flexibility in the selection of courses to move horizontally and vertically to suit his/her aptitude and interest. Junior years in undergraduate programme are broad based and share the experience of other departments in the university, while gradually building on its own specialization. As the students move to senior years, they get the option to gain specific competence either professionally or academically. The program is pragmatic in the sense that it is cut to the needs of the profession, keeping intact all the skills demanded from a professional B.Arch. degree, but not to unnecessarily burden the students. This has been done by providing suitable options. Computer Science & Engineering Computer Science and Engineering is the most influential subject in the World and in Bangladesh. The President of ACM David Patterson has said that Computer Science is there for

60 years and it will be there for at least another 60 years. The Turing award (Noble Prize of Computer Science) winner of 2008 Dr. Barbara Liskov of MIT has also said that the importance of Computer Science and Engineering will increase in future. But Bangladesh still needs a lot of skilled manpower in this field. The aim of the Computer Science and Engineering Department is to create international standard skills in Computer Science & Engineering and related fields through innovative ideas and by providing world class education.

School of Arts & Social Sciences

Department of Law and Justice: Department of Law & Justice started its journey in 2003. Within a short span there has been a remarkable progress of the Department. Global standard syllabi both theory and practice based are followed to impart quality education by the qualified and competent teachers. With the admission of some foreign students, the department has assumed an international look. There is a Moot court, a Computer Lab and a good collection of reading materials (both Books and Journals) in the Law Section of the Library. Performances of the passed out graduates of this department in the different areas of job market like judicial service, legal practitioners, University Teaching, Banks, NGOs, and others are very satisfactory. Department of Law & Justice is widely regarded as one of the top law schools in Bangladesh and is a leading centre for legal research and teaching. Many of the faculties in the school are nationally and internationally recognized in their fields and are active scholars and researchers. With around 21 full-time faculties, 35 part time faculties and a student population of about 1600 of both Undergraduate and Postgraduate study, the Department of Law and Justice is a dynamic place for research, teaching and learning. Debate Club: Southeast University Debating club is very much strong and pioneer club which is started its work from 2007. several time southeast university debating club win different competition in university or national level. every year debating club arrange the intra-university annual debate championship where every student of different department are taking participation and compete with each other. Southeast university debating club win ATN Bangla national debate competition in 2012 also win several competition every year.

Cultural Club: Cultural club is very active and well known club in southeast university. In cultural club they have more than 30 member and they are very much active to introduce new and newer program for every occasion. They are very active to arrange different party like Phela Baishak, 21st February, Sadinota Dibosh and Bijoy Dibosh celebration.

Marketing Club: Marketing Club is formulated by Marketing Department which is very much effective club in university. Every year they arranged different marketing seminar and workshop . The club have more than 25 member with a faculty member. They have a separate club room for running the club.

Social welfare Club: Social welfare club is established for the well being of the society. The student of the club is working willingly for welfare of the society. Collecting worm Cloth, Blood Donation, Voluntary service etc are provided by the club.
