Plan an activity teaching future simple

Task:
Complete the conversation using will, ll or wont.
Tim: I want to go walking with Ruth in the Lake District. Is that OK? Father: The Lake District? Thats a long way. How (you get)..there? Tim: We (go).by bus. It (not take)..very long. Father: What time (you be).back? Tim: I dont know but we (not be).very late. Father: Fine. I (keep)..some supper for you. Tim: Thanks. Father: Now, (you be)..all right? Tim: Of course we.! Dont worry about us. We (be).fine!

Procedure: Ss fill in the first gaps as an example with the whole class. Ss work in pairs to fill in the rest of the gaps. T checks the answers with the whole class. T drills a positive statement, a negative and a question, so that Ss know when to use contractions (in statements) and when not (in questions and short answers). In groups Ss read the dialogue aloud for practice. T makes sure Ss use contractions where appropriate.
