GLOBAL SCREENING PARENT LETTER

Dear Parent, In compliance with THE ANNOTATED CODE OF THE PUBLIC GENERAL LAWS OF MARYLAND, Education: Title 8. Special Programs for Exceptional Children, Subtitle 2. Gifted and Talented Students; MCPS policy IOA and MCPS regulation IOA-RA, the tests stated below were administered to your child on the dates given.
Test: In View version B12 Date Administered: 09/07/09 Test: Raven version 22.6 Date Administered: 09/07/09 These are simply examples. The formal letter must specify the tests administered, and the date they were administered.

RESULTS: Your child's results on these tests, together with scores on other global screening criteria are as follows:

SCREENING CRITERIA: MCPS uses the following criteria to determine eligibility for services above and beyond those provided in your child's regular classroom:
This space will contain an express statement of the GT selection criteria. Cut-off scores must be included. STATEMENT OF SERVICES: Your child has qualified for the following services: Math: 3rd grade Reading: 6th grade, Etc. This space will contain an express statement of coursework recommended for your child, with the recommended grade level. Children who do not qualify for GT services in any given subject will see a recommendation of … services that MCPS has determined to be beneficial to future progress. IN OTHER WORDS, GLOBAL SCREENING IS A BLUEPRINT FOR ANY CHILD’S SUCCESS. It will not be an excuse for a label. This section must be a statement of the recommended “explicit scope and sequence of accelerated and enriched instruction.” instruction"” Please be advised that your child's failure to qualify for any or all services should not be considered as a failure on his/her part.
