Grab-N-Go Pot Holders Tutorial

I was tired of having the flat pot holders slip out of my hand while  grabbing hot pans out of the oven. It can be used as a pot holder by slipping your fingers into the openings or as a hot pad to place hot pots on the table or counter! Materials:These materials will only yield one (1) Grab-N-Go Potholder. Repeat steps for more pot holders.

One (1) 15” x 7” piece of fabric for the outside of pot holder-

 

One (1) 15” x 7” piece of fabric for the lining of pot holder-

 

One (1) 14” x 6” piece of thermal batting or mylar batting

OR

three (3) layers of 100% cotton batting, orflannel. (DO NOT USE POLYESTER BATTING. IT WILL MELT WITH HEAT.)-

 

An iron (for pressing seams)-

 

Matching thread-

 

Pins-

 

Seam ripper (just in case!)

Instructions:

1.

 

Place both fabric pieces together so that the “pretty” sides are touching each other. When you lay it onthe table you should be looking at the “wrong” side of the either fabric.2.

 

Pin along the 2 long sides of your fabric pieces. Leave

BOTH

short sides open so you can stuff thebatting in through there and accommodate it successfully. Using a ¼” seam, sew along the two longsides (which you just pinned).3.

 

Flip inside out so both “pretty” sides of the fabrics are facing outward. Using your iron, press so that allseams are pressed in place and the fabric is lying nice and flat.4.

 

Insert your batting layer(s) inside the sleeve you have created being sure to take your time so that it alllies nice and flat inside. You do not want any batting bumps in your pot holder. This step will vary
