Where in the world is Chicago?
Chicago’s weather is usually not nice. In the winter, it’s very, very cold, snowy and windy. But in the summer it can be hot and humid.
In the spring, it usually rains a lot.
And in the autumn the leaves change colors and then fall off the trees.
Chicago has got many inhabitants. Almost three million people live in the city. In Chicago, everybody speaks English, but many people also speak other languages.
Some people live in flats.
Other people live in houses.
Some people live in high buildings.
Other people live and work in very, very high buildings.
Many of the tallest buildings in the world are in Chicago.
In Chicago there are many different ways to move around the city. Some people drive their cars or ride their bikes to work and school. Other people use public transportation like the bus, the underground and the elevated train.
Because the U.S.A. is very big, people travel from city to city by plane. Chicago has got two airports: Midway Airport and O’Hare International Airport.
O´Hare is the busiest airport in the country.
There are many public services in the city. For example, Chicago has got 42 hospitals, 78 libraries and 816 schools.
Monuments and Leisure Activities
Some monuments, such as the Old Water Tower, are old and are important to the history of the city. Other new monuments, like “The Bean”, are fun to visit.
There are many other fun leisure activities to do in Chicago like going to museums, shopping and even swimming at the beach!
There are also many sports to play and watch. Chicago has got basketball, baseball, football and many other professional sports teams.
People in Chicago eat many of the same foods as the people in Spain like meat, fruit, vegetables, pasta and bread. There are two foods that people eat in a special way in Chicago: hot dogs and pizza.
