CHILDREN THERAPY

PLAY THERAPHY

A technique used where the childs natural expressions are used as a therapeutic way to help the child to overcome his or her trauma and stress. Effectively used to children who have a level of understanding from 3 to 5 years old.

Problems family; divorce parents, violence, does not develop in social aspects etc. Can be used with special needs children with severe emotional inability. Used: childrens fantasies and the meaning of the play as a symbolic to understand and communicate with the children.

Purposes
Helps to reduce the behaviour problems and the emotions that distracted the way the children to function normally. Helps to make the communication and the understanding between parents and their children to be much better.

Children communicate with their thoughts and feelings in a more natural way by playing rather than speaking verbally. By playing, therapists discovered the theme or ways to use the important tools for the children help the children to develop meanings

How To Use?
Recognize the child that might be possible to get benefits from Play Theraphy. Decide whether you have to do private session with the child or you will sit together with him/ her during the lesson or after recess. Take out all the tools or equipments for the session.

The recommended tools: a) Manipulative tools (crayons, clays, things used to colour etc.) b) Plastic knife, toy pistols c) Lego blocks d) Figure toys from different size and age # LOOK AT PAGE 182#

Put all the things at a place where it is easier to get during each of the therapy session. See the child and introduce the playing ground.

Tell him/her the limits and the time for the session ( usually 30- 60 mins.).

Let the child to choose the tools that they want to use to play with. Use the reflection technique to respond to the childrens comments. Before the session ends, tell the child how many minutes left helps transition to other activities.

Precaution Steps
Used to overcome the psychological issues. Cant be used to overcome medical or biology problems.

STORY THERAPY
an art of story that can influence people as media of communication as psychotherapy to let client tell about their problem interaction

this therapy is succeed if the client can understand the elements of the story and get the solution in the story as one of the solution that they can use

How to use the story therapy?


students learn the moral values from the characters in the story the traumatic students will process the experiences from the story and start to believe and feel secure from the positive results of the story the students will try to overcome the obstacles like the characters in the story thus, this will help pupils to be more confident and believe that the problems that they faced can be solved

Guidelines
1. Softness

- counselor need to make sure that the story related to the problems that the students encounter - not necessary to be same situation but related
- ex: change the character

2. Creative

- counselor should be creative in delivering the story to make students enjoy and forget about their sadness - but the story can tell the values and understood by the students
- counselor can use props like puppets and story board - counselor can alter the storyline if he/she had told the story before

3. Positive - emphasis on the end of the story


- should be positive when the characters in the story were able to solve the problems occur - counselor can start to explore students problem

4. Let students create their story - counselor can know how students faced their problems by let them tell the story

- students will try to emphasis certain process deeply in the story maybe about the problem
- students will tell more about their feeling and the solution that they made - counselor : listen

Expressive therapy that use the process of art creativity to develop better physical, emotion, and mental of an individual. Manage an individual behaviour and feeling, release stress, enhance self-esteem and awareness. To help someone to express his feeling and understand himself. A way to communicate. e.g: colouring, drawing, taking photograph (expressive visual art)

the prescribed use of music by a qualified person to effect positive changes in psychological, social, cognitive or physical functioning of an individual (American Music Therapy Association).

1. To improve the stages of music function besides to prevent the problem in motor skill, academic, communication, social interaction or emotion. 2. Client can sing, play the instruments or play while listening to the music.

Can play keyboard, guitar, and sing. Can compose the easy songs and lead an individual or group to sing and play the instruments. Can evaluate client functional stages through music. Can participate in the next treatment with other professional members.
