Close the ears with the thumb. Japa Yoga is the easiest. 14. You will then attain the Seat of Eternal Bliss. Do Japa or Soham with breath (Ajapa Japa).JAPA YOGA 31. The eighth is like that of a drum. one lakh of times for each letter. Practise Pranayama for one or two months. 4. 2. The mind becomes one with the sound as milk with water. it does not run after sensual objects. The sixth is like that of a cymbal. The first sound is chini. surest. You will hear the ten sounds (Anahata sounds) clearly and enjoy the music of the soul. Sit on Padmasana or Siddhasana or Sukhasana. Glory to the Lord! Glory. You will develop the divine eye when you hear the ninth. Abandon all worldly thoughts. You will attain Para Brahman when you hear the tenth. and cheapest. You will have wonderful concentration. 32. 5. This is Shanmukhi Mudra or Vaishnavi Mudra. 7. glory to His Name! 35. 34. Hear the sounds through the right ear. the fourth is like that of a conch. O man! Take refuge in the Name. 11. The seventh is like that of a flute. quickest. the second is chin-chini. 33. Japa must become habitual. Even in dream you must be doing Japa. Now hear the music of Anahata sounds. 13. Practise Yama (self-restraint). You will get knowledge of hidden things when you hear the seventh. Regularity in Japa Sadhana is most essential. or Sadachara (right conduct). concentrate on the sound which annihilates the mind.
viz.AMRITA GITA Adhyaya V BHAKTI YOGA 1. It purifies the heart. Arjuna and Guha had Sakhya Bhava. 2. 6 . God is nectar. He has only thoughts of God. Take recourse to Satsanga or company of the saints. Keep a picture of the Lord and concentrate on it—the face or feet or the whole picture. 13. 7. there is no ritualistic worship. Bhakti grows gradually just as you grow a flower or a tree in a garden. Om Namo Narayanaya. Sakhya (His friendship). Yasoda and Vishnuchitta had Vatsalya Bhava. prayer. 19. 9. sometimes verbally when the mind wanders. Faith can move mountains. Vandana (prostrations). Bhishma had Santa Bhava. 4. 15. etc. The devotee wants God and God alone. Give up evil company. Let me have constant remembrance of Thee. Service of saints is the shower. Pray to the Lord thus. Para Bhakti and Jnana are one. Two have become one now. Dasyam (servant-Bhava). Love is God. viz. Kirtan (singing His Name).. the devotee forgets his self entirely. Name is divine nectar. Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya—mentally. shelter and abode. Padasevana (service of His Feet). Bhakti is of two kinds. Nama and Nami are inseparable. 5. 8. where reason dares not enter. God is love. Sravana (hearing the Lilas of the Lord). 10. God is Prema. Vatsalya Bhava (father-son relation). Faith is the root. Apara Bhakti (lower type of devotion) and Para Bhakti (highest Bhakti or Supreme Love). Sakhya Bhava (friendship). 16. There is no selfish expectation here. 12. Faith is necessary for attaining God-realisation.. service of saints. Bhakti is the greatest power on this earth. It redeems and saves. 3. and Atmanivedana (self-surrender). Bhakti melts into wisdom in the end. Cultivate Bhakti in the garden of your heart gradually. Take milk. Japa.” 14. Communion with the Lord is the fruit. “O Adorable Lord of Compassion and Love! Give me faith and devotion. Sattvic food is a help to devotion. Have any kind of Bhava that suits your temperament. Bhakti is supreme love towards God. Develop it again and again. Let me sing Thy glory always. study of books on Bhakti are all aids to devotion. Evil company is an enemy of devotion. It gushes from one’s pure heart. Dasya Bhava (master-servant relation). Madhurya Bhava (the relationship of lover and beloved). The Name of the Lord is your sole refuge. Repeat your Ishta Mantra—Om Namah Sivaya. Hanuman had Dasya Bhava. Let my mind be ever fixed On Thy Lotus Feet. Faith can work wonders. 6. Smarana (His remembrance). It is love for love’s sake. Ringing bells and waving lights is Apara Bhakti. In Supreme Love. the Gopis had Sakhya-Bhava. Faith can take you to the inner chambers of the Lord. Kirtan. Archana (offering flowers). 18. Jayadeva and Gauranga had Madhurya Bhava. 20. Devotion is the seed. It is your prop. fruits. The five kinds of Bhavas are: Santa Bhava. 11. In Para Bhakti. The devotee is absorbed in God. Then visualise the picture in your heart or the space between the two eyebrows. Practise the nine modes of devotion or Nava-vidha Bhakti. 17.

Thou art the essence of flowers—this is Para Puja. compassion and kindness. Asteya (non-stealing). Offer flowers. tries to control the mind. in all objects. It bestows on him everlasting peace and bliss. Raja Yoga is an exact science. 23. 4. This is an easy way of worship of the Lord.BHAKTI YOGA 21. greed. Draupadi was an Arta-Bhaktini. the light that you burn as waving lights to the Lord. Dhruva was an Artharthee-Bhakta. 27. that the Lord works through your mind. Offer all your actions and the fruits of the actions unto the Lord. THUS ENDS BHAKTI YOGA OR THE YOGA OF DEVOTION Adhyaya VI RAJA YOGA 1. Thy Will be done’. He starts meditation and tries to control the mind. He is nearer to you than your jugular vein. 25. 29. It aims at controlling all thought-waves or mental modifications. viz. Prahlada was an absolutely Nishkama Bhakta. He has equal vision and a balanced mind. Consider your house as a temple of the Lord. He dwells in the chambers of your heart. Where Hatha Yoga ends. The eight limbs of Raja Yoga are: Yama (self-restraint). Feel you are an instrument in the hands of the Lord. Yama consists of five parts.. 28. Svarabhanga (choking of the voice) are marks or Lingas of devotion. all is Thine. Nachiketas was Jijnasu-Bhakta. Brahmacharya (celibacy). Pratyahara (abstraction of the senses). 6. 2. Manasic Puja or mental worship is a great help for increasing devotion and attaining concentration. jealousy. there Raja Yoga begins. Hatha Yogi starts his Sadhana with his body and Prana. It makes him perfect. Shall I wash Thy Feet with holy water. Satyam (truthfulness). every word you speak as the Japa of the Lord’s Name. This is the way to do self-surrender. Kshipta (wandering). Never wrestle with the mind during meditation. They will bring about your downfall. 13. A Raja Yogi practises Samyama or the combined practice of Dharana. Concentration merges in meditation. Regularity is of paramount importance. They will pass away. It removes all sorts of distractions. Then alone will you attain perfection. If evil thoughts enter your mind. He who practises meditation without ethical perfection. 26. When the mind is tired. Niyama is observance of five canons. Siddhis are great temptations. Then you will attain illumination. 20. Ahimsa is perfect harmlessness and positive love also. steady. Vairagya thins out the mind. 14. The practice of Yama is a Mahavrata. Do not mix much. Dhyana and Samadhi at one and the same time and gets detailed knowledge of an object. Retention of breath. Vikshipta (gathering). 11. Never miss a day in meditation.
