Stars Dance/Drill Team Demerit /Attendance Guidelines

Overview 1. The Stars director will have the authority to discipline any member for not upholding the dance team constitution, school polices, and/or instructions set forth by the director. 2. Members will receive demerits for any infraction of the dance team constitution, school polices, and/or instructions set forth by the director. 3. Demerits affect the active status of the member and are in effect during the entire dance team year. 4. Demerits will be recorded by each Stars Officer in her notebook. 5. The director has the final say concerning demerits 6. If any Stars member receives 10 accumulated demerits within a six weeks period, she will sit out for the next performances until a new six weeks begins. 7. Excessive demerits will result in the Director and Principal reviewing dismissal of the individual from the team. 8. Excessive practice truancy or a missed performance, regardless of the medical or extenuating circumstances may result in the changes in position of dances or exclusion of particular dances by the director whether the absences are medical or otherwise. Again, all team members must be aware of weekly practices and performances. Occasionally a practice may be slightly altered, in the event this happens, the director will make the change on the dance office calendar or call board (or the girls will be notified by their officer). This is a team members responsibility to be aware of these changes and inform the parent of these changes. All practice conflicts must be kept to a minimum. Again, if documentation shows a pattern of absences from team obligations, the director reserves the right to

take the team member out of a position or performance for the good of the ENTIRE team.
