FR. ISAAC HECKER QUOTE
“God is no less the author of the human
heart. He created us in his own image and
likeness and therefore we are the most
complete visible symbol of God. Everything in
mankind represents a divine principle. God can
become man and man can become like God
without exaggeration or alteration. This
took place in the Incarnation. Christ is
wholly God and completely man. God is
the author of nature and of man and in God
we live and move and have our being. The Apostle Paul
was fully alive to this fact.” (Undated Sermon)

So many exciting things happening at the UCC!
Last Wednesday we had our Spring Speaker
Series kick off with an exciting talk from
Generation Life entitled “Restore Sex, Restore
Culture”. This past Friday we had two CFR
Franciscan sisters fly in from NYC for a free
pizza Q&A lunch. I gave them a tour of campus to showcase UT
and also so students not involved in the UCC could be reminded of
God and wonder just what two nuns in habits were up to walking
around campus!

Goodness! And so much more to look forward to! This Wednesday
at 7 pm in the library our speaker series continues with professor
emeritus, Dr. Norman Farmer, coming for a fascinating talk on
Dante’s Divine Comedy. You won’t want to miss that. The
following week 2/19 at 6:00 in the library we begin a wonderful 5-
part series from our very own Nader N. Ibrahim entitled “Relics
and Miracles,” focusing on miraculous relics such as the Shroud of
Turin. He is teaching this as the first class of this kind at UT and
according to the records it has the largest enrollment of DEMTEX
courses to date! You definitely don’t want to miss all these exciting
events.

Wow! I could go on for a long time about our upcoming mission
trip and more going on in April with a talk on Bl. John XXIII (date
TBD), a Taizé prayer service at the end of March and just how
awesome it is to be your campus minister, but I only have so much
room to write. If you have any questions at all about these events
or anything else, remember, my door is always open! Call, email,
or just stop in!

Praise God and Hook ‘em Horns, y’all! It’s so amazing to be part of
the UCC!
