Lucy and Gina walk up to find the marching band gathered near
the drum major podium. Mr. Izzo is on top of it.

MR. IZZO
Well, I'm sure you all noticed the
'addition' to the show on Friday...

LUCY
(whispering to Gina)
I know he is NOT going to pass this
off as his own.

24.

MR. IZZO
I didn't tell all of you, because I
wasn't sure I wanted to go forward
with things. However, based on the
crowd's reaction, I decided to
officially incorporate the
choreography into the halftime
show.

The marching band erupts into appropriate applause.

MR. IZZO
Furthermore, I'd also like to
announce that I have formally
accepted our attendance to the
State marching festival. As some
of you seniors will remember, this
trip is only reserved for our most
competitive years. As you seniors
are also aware, this will be an
overnight trip. We'll be passing
out permission slips and
information after practice today.

An even larger cheer comes from the crowd.

MR. IZZO
This is our chance to make some
people notice. Alright,
sectionals. Captains, please run
the closer. We've got a lot of
practicing ahead of us.

Tom finds Lucy and they walk to where the rest of the drum
line is forming an arc.

TOM
No pressure on us, right?

LUCY

None.

TOM
So, I was thinking we could do a
few things to improve our part.

LUCY
What did you have in mind?

EXT. MARCHING BAND PRACTICE FIELD - DAY

The band is in the middle of a complicated set, running the

25.

show, when Lucy goes up for an aerial. Tom misses the catch
and she goes down - hard. Everyone crowds around.

LUCY
Yeah, yeah, I'm fine.

Tom gives her a hand to get up, which she begrudgingly
accepts.

LUCY

Owww...

MR. IZZO
Everyone take five. Someone go get
her some ice.

Lucy limps over and sits on the ground at the sidelines. The
senior members of the drum line crowd around.

J.D.
Who's got $10 the size of the
bruise tomorrow is as big as a
trumpet horn?

Lucy shoots him a murderous look.

J.D.

You get 10%.

LUCY
I'll allow it.

Their classmates start shouting out bets.
