ILLNESS POLICY

- As per the Kansas Department of Health and Environment the following Illness Policy will be strictly enforced:
o

Children exhibiting any signs of illness will not be allowed in KiDSCOR. Please do not bring your child to KiDSCOR programming if he/she has:  Discolored mucus  Fever in the last 24 hours  Vomited in the last 24 hours  Diarrhea  Contagious skin rash  Discharge from the eye  Pink eye

-

Any child who has entered KiDSCOR and is then exhibiting any of the above symptoms will be segregated from the other children and the parents contacted for pick up. Parents must notify a KiDS COR Program Director(s) if any child is diagnosed with a communicable illness within 24 hours of utilizing the KiDS COR facility. H1N1 Update: We are doing everything we can to keep our children’s ministry functioning as usual. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Johnson County Health Department are recommending the following ways you can help: Teach your children to wash their hands often with soap and water or an alcoholbased hand rub. You can set a good example by doing this yourself.

Teach your children not to share personal items like drinks, food or unwashed utensils, and to cover their coughs and sneezes with tissues. Covering up their coughs or sneezes using the elbow, arm or sleeve instead of the hand when a tissue is unavailable.

Know the signs and symptoms of the flu. Symptoms of the flu include fever (100 degrees Fahrenheit, 37.8 degrees Celsius or greater), cough, sore throat, a runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, and feeling very tired. Some people may also vomit or have diarrhea.

Keep sick children at home for at least 24 hours after they no longer have fever or do not have signs of fever, without using fever-reducing drugs (any medicine that contains ibuprofen or acetaminophen). Keeping children with a fever at home will reduce the number of people who may get infected.

Do not send children to the church if they are sick.

As always the nurseries and early childhood departments clean and sterilize all toys and rooms after each use. Hand sanitizers are located at all check-in computers and most classrooms for your convenience. Thank you! KiDS COR STAFF
