Ryan Moore

This letter is to express my interest in working as a 3D modeler for Pixar animation studios. I discovered my passion for multimedia and technology during my high school years, but my passion was merely an undeveloped shapeless lump of clay, yet to be sculpted. The question I kept asking myself was Can I do it? It was this passion, in combination with my personal creativity, education, and work experience which has driven me to the discovery of my niche. I believe my niche is the utilization my personal creativity, effective communication/interpersonal skills, and technical experience to serve your company as a highly effective designer and modeler. Over the span of my education I have acquired a broad range of technical skills, knowledge of design, and experience in interactive multimedia while enrolled at Sierra College as an Undeclared major, as well as my enrollment in the Communication Design major at California State University: Monterey Bay (CSUMB). During my initial general education I enrolled in multiple design courses in an effort to explore my interests and broaden my horizons. I learned to manipulate digital images, design layouts, build models in 3D, even create various works of art using oils, charcoal, and pen and ink. It was these courses which were responsible for my eventual decision to enroll in the Communication Design major at CSUMB. I signed up for multiple technical courses which taught the fundamentals of graphic/web design, human-computer interaction, 3D modeling, and interactive media. While I continued my education, I further developed my passion for multimedia, honed my design skills, and most importantly, realized my potential to prosper in three dimensional media.

I began work for a Monterey based company called Orator Plus during my Fall 2012 semester. At this company I worked primarily on creating interactive multimedia projects for the companys clients on the companys software, also called Orator Plus. Occasionally, I was required to travel to various locations and gather data for projects of varying sizes. I was often required to communicate with clients, co-workers, and manage teams while building projects or gathering the raw data. My experience at Orator Plus provided me with two years of experience in multiple computer programs, coordination/communication with clients and colleagues, working on projects in teams, and real world problem solving.

The most prominent project that I was involved in at CSU: Monterey Bay was my senior Capstone. During my Capstone, construction had just started on a new BIT (Business & Information Technology) building. My project entailed modeling, texturing, and implementing proper lighting based on concept drawings and blueprints provided by the architectural company responsible for the project; this was implemented into the interactive multimedia presentation software, courtesy of my job at Orator Plus, to create a panoramic virtual tour of the building. I also used the model to print out a miniature physical representation, printed to-scale, on the schools new 3D printer. Throughout the project, I came across multiple technical road blocks which either had to be driven around or ran straight through, depending upon the situation. I worked alone but I had to collaborate with multiple third parties in order for the successful fulfilment and satisfactory completion of my vision. This project was the pinnacle of my work as CSUMB and pushed my skills to their limits. Pixar is a part of my life. Growing up with Toy Story, one can picture the magic that the movie sprinkled into a childs imagination with the belief that their toys were, in fact, real. As more works of cinematic art were released by the Pixar studio throughout my life, I found myself lacking the fear that a Pixar movie might turn out to be anything short of incredible. With Pixar studios, every film is gold, guaranteed to be a cinematic masterpiece that both children and adults can enjoy. From Toy Story in 1995 to Monster University in 2013, I have never missed my contribution to Pixar studios at box office. Much like the process of modeling, my communication/interpersonal skills, technical skillset, and personal passion and creativity, have been refined and sculpted from a shapeless undeveloped lump of clay into an intricate and detailed model. The question is no longer, can I do it? But how do I do it? I believe that over time I will evolve in the company, from a rookie with high potential into an unforeseen asset.

I appreciate you taking the time to review my resume and letter, and I thank you for the opportunity to work for your company. -Ryan Moore
