Gauge=5 1/2 stitches per inch on size 8- 16” circular needle for a 20” circumference hat. Needs: 2 to 4 oz sport weight yarn, size 8 needles – set of 5 double points, and one 16” circular, yarn needle
Cast on 96 stitches onto a 16” size 8 circular needle. Join without twisting. Lace Pattern: Row 1 – K1,YO,K3,SSK,K1,K2tog,K3,YO Row 2 – Knit (Knit through the back of the YOs)
Repeat these two rows until the hat measures 6 inches from the lowest point of a scallop to the top. Transitional row: Knit 28, K1FB around - 100 stitches Decrease Row 1: Knit 8, knit 2tog around
Decrease Row 2: Knit (repeat for all even rows) Decrease Row 3: Knit 7, knit 2tog around Decrease Row 5: Knit 6, knit 2tog around Decrease Row 7: Knit 5, knit 2tog around (change to double points when necessary) Decrease Row 9: Knit 4, knit 2tog around Decrease Row 11: Knit 3, knit 2tog around Decrease Row 13: Knit 2, knit 2tog around Decrease Row 15 Knit 1, knit 2tog around Decrease Row 17, knit 2tog around
Break off yarn, leaving a 10” tail. Using a yarn needle, run the tail through the remaining stitches twice, pull tight, pass through to wrong side of hat, and weave in. Weave in beginning tail. Abbreviations: K = knit YO = yarn over Enjoy!
