The Falling Elevator

By Elton Camp It was Meg’s worst recurring nightmare She’d use a defective elevator somewhere It’d fall thirty stories to the ground In little pieces she’d then be found Little comfort did she take About the car’s safety brake An elevator can’t possibly fall She didn’t really believe at all Years of trudging up & down stairs A psychiatrist alleviated her cares So elevators she began to ride Apprehensions were set aside Meg pushed the button to descend ith a lurch the elevator did begin !"h# no# oh# no#$ she did call It went into sickening freefall Its speed increased at an alarming rate Meg prepared to face a horrible fate %ust an instant before the fatal crash She awoke from the dream in a flash

Meg screamed as the elevator fell
