Fall-Winter 2009/2010 differs from previous trends with strictness of forms and colors. The new season seems to be much more ‘practical’ than last Fall/Winter 2008/2009 shoe trend. There are less strange forms,no more motley palette and huge elements. Now couturiers choose quality, simplicity and style. Of course some fashion designers presented their extravagant lines of footwear as well, but in the time of economic decline it looks defiant.

COLOUR TRENDS FOR SHOES:
Chic

Classic

Casual
back next

CHIC
Chic shades are inspired by digital prints and holograms. This trend is dominated by solid and cold tones. Midnight blues and earth tones as well as deep pink are opposing and in that way creating a world of playful patterns. The interaction of functional blues and structured browns open out onto turbulent explorations that burst forth in stormy alchemies.

back

CLASSIC
The Classic world is characterized by diluted color effects. Clean and earthy colors play a big role in this section. In curious combinations they seem to be like an experiment. Brown and green tones mixed together create a hint of mystery in combination with gray and foggy shades.

back

CASUAL
Casual colors reflect the style of mixed technologies. Juicy orange tones, drunken scarlets and neutral nuances combine in a dangerous relation. The way how a dynamic brilliance and shining is created seems like a magic formula. Pavement grays brought together with dazzling lights are a contrast to passionate and theatrical tones.

back

MATERIALS
The material picture changes along with the colour schemes. Silky gloss, represented by highly polished Napa or suede, and a bit of patent leather, remains in the upcoming winter. New on the scene are matt, velvety surfaces. Nubuk and velour with a soft, supple hand are gaining importance. A natural used look is allowed in the sporty sector. Double-face materials with open edges radiate a sporty-luxurious aura. The same applies to high-quality croc and reptile embossings, utilised all over or as inserts with shoes, boots and bags. The overall rather conservative colour and material scheme is livened by decorative elements, for example clasps and rivets in gun metal look, or hide and fur trimmings, as well as fringes and patchwork themes.

PRINTS
In Fall Winter 2009-2010, animal prints will surely rule the roost. Boots in fake snakeskin and crocodile skin shoes. Zebra, giraffe, leopard, tiger skin-like prints. However, make sure that you avoid gaudy and cheap-looking boots. The leather look is all about quality. The coming winter is going to witness geometrical forms and lines being evident on shoes. Prints with optical effects inspired by Maurits Escher’s works, crossed lines, zigzag lines, modified cubes, op-art style prints. Romantic prints and aplliques inspired by naive paintings and pop-art are higly presented in designers’ collections.
