Its easy to spell adjectives and adverbs ending in er or -est correctly there are just 4 rules!

Add er or est to one-syllable adjectives and adverbs. long " longer! longest #uick " #uicker! #uickest

+ r/st
For one-syllable adjectives and adverbs that end in e or two-syllable adjectives that end in le! just add r or -st. wide " wider! widest simple " simpler! simplest

y i + er/est
For two-syllable adjectives that end with a consonant easy " easier! easiest y! change the y to i and add er or -est. tidy " tidier! tidiest

For one-syllable adjectives and adverbs that end with consonant-vowel-consonant! double the final consonant and add er or -est. hot " hotter! hottest big " bigger! biggest $o not double the final consonants -x, -w, or y. low " lower! lowest
