#106 Jacksons Mittens

Finished size child S,M,L Materials: Valley Yarns Sugarloaf, 81yards/ball. 2 balls MC, 1 ball CC for all sizes. Size US 8 double pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge. Gauge: 20 sts x 24 rows=4inches Cuff: Cast on 28(32,36) sts with MC and divide onto 3 needles. Working in the round, knit 1, purl 1 for 6(6,7)rounds. Change to CC and knit 6(6,7) rounds. Change back to MC and knit 6(6,7) rounds. Change to st st and begin thumb gusset: Row 1: Knit 13(15,17) sts place marker, inc in next st, place marker knit to end. Row 2: Knit even. Row 3: Knit to first marker, slip marker, inc in next 2 sts, slip marker, knit to end. Repeat steps 2 &3 increasing 1 st after first marker and before next marker until there are 11(11,13) sts. End after having knit row 2. Next row: Knit to marker, remove marker and slip next 11(11,13) sts to a holder. Remove next marker, knit to end. Working in the round again, knit until hand measures 3.5(4,4.5) after ribbing. Top decreases: (Knit 2, knit 2 tog)repeat across row. Knit 1 row even. (Knit 1, Knit 2 tog) repeat across row. Knit 1 row even. Knit 2 tog across row. Knit 2 tog across row. Cut yarn, leaving a tail and thread through live stitches and pull to gather and secure. Thumb Slip stitches from thumb onto 3 double pointed needles. With MC, work in rounds until thumb measures 1(1.5,1.75). Next 2 rows: Knit 2 together. Finish as for top of mitten. Make second mitten.
