Rebuilding Efforts Are Underway

It has been another busy week in Jamestown: The Jamestown Post Office opened on Saturday, February 8th; Christian Aid Ministries has been hard at work at various restoration projects, including mold mitigation; Amec Engineering was selected by the Town Board for Project 2: Distribution / Roads & Bridges (pending approval from the Boulder County Commissioners); Progress continues on the Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) engineering and design; and, We had a huge response from people wanting a limited number of cisterns (notifications will be sent out shortly). A lot is happening and many residents are digging in with their plans to restore and rebuild. If you're looking for a place to start, please take a few minutes to glance at the Jamestown Rebuilding & Restoration Guide. Inside, you'll find information regarding process, informative links about rebuilding in the floodplain, permitting direction and local contact information. All rebuilding efforts start with a conversation with the Jamestown Floodplain Administrator. If you have questions about rebuilding in the floodplain and are looking for a place to start, please contact: Mark Williams, Jamestown Floodplain Administrator 303-449-1806 | mark.williams@jamestownco.org February 22nd is Volunteer Work Day! of March 1), we will have nearly 50 volunteers who will be in Jamestown helping us and our neighbors with a variety of tasks between 9 am - 2 pm. Here are some ideas with how volunteers can help you and your neighbors: Moving help: boxing up items, moving boxes, stacking boxes Removing fixtures from a home that will be repaired or demo'd including lights, wood stoves, special features within your home that you would like to save - ceiling fans, light switches, etc. Stacking wood piles for the winter Removing and moving debris, yard clean-up Nina Andaloro will be contacting you if you have already submitted a work order that can be done by this group. We are sorry but there will be no digging happening during this event due to the weather. We are, however, trying to attract individuals with large equipment. Please note that this work day is for JT residents but Nina hopes to schedule a similar day in later March for James Canyon. Questions and requests go to: Nina Andaloro, Volunteers & Donations Coordinator 303-449-1806 | nina.andaloro@jamestownco.org Want to Set Up a Rebuilding Account? We would like to encourage people who need reconstruction and rebuilding, to set up accounts at Home Depot and Boulder Lumber (20% discount on in-store purchases at Boulder Lumber through these accounts). People who are looking to help you with your project can then make a deposit to these accounts in your name and you can use the account to purchase building materials. This is a great opportunity to do a little fundraising for yourself. You set up the account, and then let your friends and family know about it. Heating Systems & Hot Water Heaters for Flood Survivors Don Juren, who owns a heating and air conditioning business in Castle Rock, has generously offered to help provide heating systems, hot water heaters, etc. at cost for people who were impacted by the September Flood. If you are interested, please contact him directly at 720-989-0492. In the Dark About What's Happening in Jamestown? We know there are a lot of questions out there -- and if you've got one, chances are 50 other people have the same one. You can stay up to date with Jamestown's progress by attending the Rebuild Jamestown Community Meetings. As always, questions directed to the Mayor are encouraged during open forum and EVERYONE's participation is welcome and vital. We hope that you will join us at the next Community Meeting on February 18, 5:30-7:30, at Casey Middle School. Community Meetings will be every 2 weeks. If

7 Days Left to Make Your Needs Known!!

Town Square Update

The GOCO Grant application for rebuilding the Town Square was submitted on February 6th. The announcement of the award will beApril 3. Learn more here.
The "Green Shirts" are here - but hurry, they leave February 22! Do you need help recovering from the flood? A reminder that you have 7 days remaining to make your needs known to Boulder County. If you need help recovering from the flood, and hope to get any help toward grants, donations, volunteer work, or any other resources, you NEED to let them know. If you are a Jimtowner who is currently displaced due to the flood, if you have lost your home, sustained damage to your home, suffered income loss, or have incurred expenses to bring in a cistern to your Jamestown residence...you should go in. Why should you go? First: to make sure YOU get in the system so that you can get identified for resources (grants, donations, volunteer help, etc.). Second: To help Jamestown and the larger Boulder Countyaccurately assess what our needs are so that we can get grants for our residents and infrastructure. How? Visit any one of the 5 walk-in centers around Boulder County (listed below). You've likely been hearing about "The Green Shirts" by now...this is who you will find at these centers (from World Renew). They are part of the disaster recovery process. Their one focused role is identifying who needs help and how. This is a critical step in the overall recovery process for our

town, county and state. What they do: They will walk you through a Needs Assessment form to capture all of the ways you might need help. This information is securely stored by a non-government agency third party so that Boulder County Long-term Flood Recovery Group case managers may help you in the next phase, and so that we can have an accurate assessment of unmet needs for the purpose of seeking town and county grants. What they do not do: Offer immediate help or instruction on how to get it. This step will come later from the case managers who will follow this process. Important: the case managers will not be able to effectively help you later if you do not start with this step! Please don't let this pass you by. It is absolutely essential that anyone who needs help with recovery identify yourself through this group so that you don't get left out going forward. THANK YOU!!!!
