(Claymont, DE) February 19, 2014: Archmere Academy Dramatics presents Cole Porters ocean-liner love story Anything Goes, opening Thursday, February 27, with two additional performances Friday, February 28, and Saturday, March 1, in the Performing Arts Center. All performances begin at 7 p.m. Originally published as a book written and revised collaboratively by Guy Bolton, P.G. Wodehouse, Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, Anything Goes first appeared on Broadway in 1934 and has been revived multiple times since, most recently in 2011. The frenetic musical is set aboard a transatlantic luxury liner en route to London from New York. With help from friend and nightclub singer Reno Sweeney along with Moonface Martin (a.k.a. Public Enemy #13), stowaway Billy Crocker attempts to steal the love of American debutante Hope Harcourt from her uptight fianc Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. The show features renowned musical numbers including Youre the Top, I Get a Kick Out of You, Its De-Lovely, and title song, Anything Goes.

Over fifty students are involved in this years winter musical, working on the stage and behind the scenes. English teacher Tim Dougherty directs, while Music Department chair David Ifkovits, music teacher Damian Demnicki 86, and Dorothy Brown lead the music, set design/construction, and choreography, respectively. Junior Claire Caverly 15 heads costumes. Tickets can be purchased at the door, and are $5 for students/staff (any school) and senior citizens; $10 for general admission.
