Improving Connectivity
w/Future Stations

-29-
Intermodal Enhancements

$9 million FTA grant to identify potential opportunities to improve connectivity

to the future Gold Line stations; $6 million of which is going to implement
recommendations of Bus/Ped Interface Improvements Study
Bus Interface Planning

Began initial analysis - Azusa to Montclair cities

Future grants - work with cities and service providers to re-route existing
lines or develop new lines to service the future stations
Last Mile Analysis

Began initial analysis of walking & biking connections from future stations to
area points of interest; future grants will be explored to continue this work &
make recommendations for enhancements around future stations

Long Term Impact
• Azusa to Montclair extension will create additional
construction impacts
• Upon project completion, the fully operational Metro
Gold Line Foothill Extension will likely lead to further
development and economic activity for many years
• Efficient transit and appropriate zoning has served as
a catalyst for investment and long term economic
development around stations in other cities
– A similar pattern of densification and transit-oriented
development around the Gold Line stations can be
expected and will have an additional significant economic
impact

51
Economic Impact is Significant
The 24-mile corridor can absorb significant infill
development potential:

1,200 acres of opportunity sites

Roughly equivalent to the size of…

Cities are actively pursuing
station area development
opportunities:
• 17,000 DU
• 3 million SF retail
• 7.5 million SF office
