TRAVEL ADVISORY: HAZARDOUS ROAD CONDITIONS
Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney has issued an Onondaga County Travel Advisory for tomorrow mornings commute. The National Weather Service in Binghamton, NY has issued a lake effect snow warning that is in effect until 1 PM Friday, in addition to a Wind Chill Advisory during the overnight until 9 AM tomorrow. Steady snow is expected to develop Thursday evening. The heaviest snow should occur during the overnight and early morning hours with snowfall rates of an inch or more per hour are possible and storm totals of 6 to 12 inches are forecasted for Northern Onondaga County. Important considerations for this storm     The heavy snowfall Increasing winds late Thursday afternoon and night Extreme wind chills -15 to -20 below zero Potential for blowing and drifting snow

Precautionary/preparedness actions    A lake effect snow warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. For the safety of all residents, the general public is encouraged to consider the need to be on the roads and to use extreme caution while traveling in or around Onondaga County. This travel advisory does not restrict travel. It is, however, a warning to motorists that hazardous driving conditions may exist. ###
